Yep. Jay Comeaux tried to tell anyone that would listen what would happen. He was right.

When did those apartments go Tara? That was Woodlawn territory 25 years ago.

I'm not sure. We are zoned for Tara in Woodland Ridge too.

This is unfortunately true. It would be great to see local government figure out a way to eliminate this area. It's truly a small pocket surrounding a pretty large nice area. Baton Rouge needs to start seeing improvement rather than the opposite.

Oneal towards the interstate has been upgraded over the last 5-10 years. It's been an improvement. The blighted areas need to be pushed back beyond I-12. That would be significant progress.

Local government will never allow that to happen. Expanding diversity (culcha) is the goal.

I agree. It's mostly a middle class area that's made worse by that giant shithole on the corner.

It’s the norm. Area too peaceful and affluent? We need to put some section 8 in there. It’s happening in ascension, too. If there’s not a hood close enough then let’s make one. Spread the misery.

Went to Tara back in early 1980’s. Had friends from both Tara and Broodmoor. I hate to see the decline of those areas around Sherwood Forest and o’Neal.

Didn't they build a big section 8 complex on Airline just across the parish line?

Yep. Looks great right now. Give it a year or two. Coming to the outlet mall area next. Just wait.

That frickin sec 8 area needs to be cleaned up. All owners and tenants for sec 8 have Lease rules to follow and If they don’t, then they need to lose the right to participate. Maybe it’s time to start exposing/public shaming the owners.

quote:
Lease conditions can include keeping the unit clean, not damaging the unit or property, and not disrupting the quiet enjoyment of other tenants in the building. Tenants must refrain from any criminal or illegal use of the property

Any public official who touches that with a ten-foot pole will be labeled as a racist, tarred and feathered, and forced to resign.

If you drive 15 seconds down George O'Neil, it's a tremendous area. Head down south Harrell's Ferry, another tremendous area of Baton Rouge.

The kid had major criminal charges, not sure how Sela could even take him. NOT saying he deserved to die, but holy cow he had some issues with the law...

I don't know anything about the kid but this is generally where the thug life gets you. Dead or in prison.
