The beauty of it is it only heats the water you use at that moment instead of heating a tank full at a time.

Anybody have any experience with these. We may be needing to replace a water heater and am considering this option.
Pros - Cons ?
I have one at my house and love it. We had a 50 gallon tank (house is 20 years old) and switched about 3 years ago. Biggest issue I had was not having enough water for our big tub. We have a large tub in the bathroom and a 50 gallon take would barely fill it.
The tankless system was about 2.5K for us and it was fairly easy to install. It pretty much as advertised. Endless hot water. Sometimes, it takes a few more seconds to get hot water to the far extremes of our system but its barely noticeable.
If you are switching, you may need a larger vent or a larger gas line depending on how old your home is

I have two Noritz. Could not imagine having to go back to the old tank systems.

had one in my old house - it sometimes took several minutes for the hot water to make it to the shower. once it did everything was fine but it did take a while.
might have been an issue with the pipes as it was a pretty old house.

keep the kitchen one at 140F for dishwashing.
Dishwashers heat their own water. They are hooked up the the cold water supply, so it does not use water from the water heater.

I'm familiar. I wash my own by hand quite often. I don't put the good cookware in the machine. I would never have the water that hot where it could scald an unaware bather.

Nortz worked great for me. Had one for just the bath and lanudry, hot water was quick.
Had to use a big arse gas line to feed it.

pros
- if sized correctly, you will never run out of hot water again.
- you are not heating water until you use it, so when you are away from home, you are not still keeping a 40 gallon tank hot.
con
- initial cost is higher due to higher purchase price and different vent pipe, etc.

They are great. Every thing you have read above, plus we got a tax credit when we installed ours.

That's irrelevant. It was only my wife and I and we had two installed. One for the baths and the other for washing machine, kitchen sink etc.
now 7 years later we have two kids.

I have a Noritz gas heater that feeds my entire house. Best thing I've ever purchased besides my sonic ice machine. Get it and don't look back.

Sonic ice machine? Damn I better not let my wife hear about that.

Are there any electric tankless that are good? Unfortunately we don't have gas run to our home.. Which is weird to me considering it was built in 82..
