Anybody have any experience with these. We may be needing to replace a water heater and am considering this option.

Are they sufficient enough for showers? Thought they were just for sinks.

I have one and I'm happy with it. Never had a lack of hot water. I like that I can adjust the water temp with ease.

I love the two I have. No issues. 58 minutes of hot water. Turn it off briefly, you get 58 more minutes. Gas bill is $20 a month.

I've put a few in and will be installing another one this week. They seem to do a very good job and the reliability is good as well.

What's the price difference? Has anyone had issues with maintenance? I've heard they can rust pretty easy.

How many gallons per second can they heat?

Can they sustain a 5 minute shower?

They are higher, but less time to install. My Noritz units are modular inside. You can replace individual parts rather than junk the entire thing. I haven't had any issues.

How many gallons per second?

And how cost-efficient are they? Does it take less money to run one than a conventional hot water heater?

Had them for a year. I have never run out of hot water. No complaints.

Of mine, the bedroom area has a 9.9gpm, and the kitchen/guest bath has a 6.9. I keep the kitchen one at 140F for dishwashing.

To operate them it costs less. The purchase price is higher, but I consider it an upgrade or luxury item. I even have a spigot outside that I can hook to a pressure washer or hose.

Last question, how much space do they take up?

Same size as a rolling carry on suitcase. That's the part that makes install so much cheaper.

eta: All the info I posted is in regards to gas powered heaters. The on demand electric ones are less favorable.

My gas bill in the summer with only the 40 gallon water heater using gas is $20 or less. It would cost more for me to switch to tankless.

Mine is small..about 2-1/2' high x 1-1/2' wide x 1' deep.

Had to replace a flow valve once, it was an easy job.

Have never run out of hot water. If the water coming out of the faucet isn't hot within 10-15 seconds I know the GFCI has been tripped (wife's hair dryer sometimes flips it). I reset it and boom hot water again.

Of course it would. It's a luxury to have endless hot water. My gas bill includes a marginal amount for my range top and occasional use of the log lighters in my fireplaces.

You're thinking of "instant" hot water heaters, which are located at the point of use (sinks). Tankless heaters mount either in the attic or on outside of the house, and supply the entire house. It takes a minute to get the hot water to the sink/shower, just like a regular water heater. However once you have hot water you never run out.
