Since my UPPP surgery, I have a tendency to throw up if I eat too much or drink too much (water). Well, I took my meds tonight and about 5 minutes later, I threw up after drinking a glass of water.

Should I retake them? Or have the absorbed by that time?

In 5 minutes, I'd say you did not get those meds. I'd also say skip them tonight to be safe. You're puking water. I'd rather be able to wake for that if needed.

Probably retake.

I would talk with the doctor on a follow up about the puking, especially if it has been more than a week after surgery.

depends on how badly you need the meds. Also depends on what the side effects are

If only there were trained folks who went to medical school who actually knew what the hell to tell you to do that you could contact.

Yeah, you go ahead and call your doc at 11 at night. See how that works out for you.

If you're talking about sleeping pills, maybe you should just take half of one. Or wait an hour and see if it has any effect. If not you probably threw it up

I remember once I took an ecstasy pill in high school, then decided I didn't want it any more and threw it up after 5-10 minutes. I ended up rolling anyway. So you never know

Many have answering service and call patients back late at night. Pediatricians nearly always have someone on. Family practice typically do as well, namely because they also see pedi and scared parents go to the ER a lot.
For some meds, you absolutely want to take. For some, it doesn't matter much. The person writing the scripts knows better than anyone.

That said, the goal is to train patients to not call, and by that, I mean you try to educate in the office to the point that scenarios like this are answered well before they happen.
