What business elective classes should I take and any tips about the accounting classes would be helpful too.

Cheers

You should probably go to State board's website and read their requirements.

If you're not already doing so, take whatever classes you need through Independent & Distance Learning and thank me later.

That department handles individuals in your situation from all over the country.

Take whatever is available in... What are classes called that are held between semesters?

Intersession. And I agree, those classes are usually much easier

you will have to take 150(?) hours so you might as well get a master in Accounting. At least that's what all the CPA's I know did

take sports marketing. I learned more about public speaking in that class than the 3 public speaking courses I took. Plus it is an easy A and you will want to go to class for the most part.

Are you referring to classes outside of the accounting degree? Because assuming you're an accounting major, your degree coursework of 120 hours should have you covered for classes needed, and the other 30 can be whatever you want, related or unrelated to accounting. Personally, I used the 30 extra hours on personally interesting classes rather than accounting ones. If you want accounting only, then might as well get your masters. You could also look into CPA review classes for credit, so you can kill two birds with one stone. Currently studying for the CPA myself and it's a bitch.

Intersession. I took 2 classes during intersession (not at the same time), that seemed to be a popular choice for people looking to fill requirements. I am not sure if its like this with every class, but in my experience, despite the fact you would assume it would be insane getting all of that material in within what? two or three weeks? It was laid back as hell.

I didn't get my Master's but knew that I would need the 150 hours so I took a few of the Accounting courses recommended for CPA exam preparation at the time. I can't recall which courses were required for the Accounting B.S. versus extra electives but recall that there were Business Law and Auditing courses designed for the CPA exam.

Also may be worth checking state requirements as there was a class or two that I thought would count towards the 'accounting' requirement (i.e. 30 hours or so) but didn't. Fortunately, I had taken just enough accounting-eligible courses to qualify in Texas.

What I'm doing is just taking the 27 accounting hours that would qualify me in most states and 24 business elective hours. I'm taking all summer and intersession classes that are available but I'm not getting the accounting degree.

This route is quicker to getting to take the CPA than getting an accounting degree since I already have a degree and 121 hours. At least I think so

A masters in accounting is worth nothing though. Do what I did. You will be about 20 something hours short of being a dual major in Finance. Do that. Helps way more to have a major in Accounting and Fiance then having a Masters in Accounting

I've been doing this through UVA's continuing ed program. Plenty of places have an accounting certificate program designed to fulfill the accounting requirements.

My very last lecture for the very last class is in about four hours.

Then I actually have to sit for the exams.

I got a text from UVA today about the program. I just really don't want to take the GRE. After the LSAT, swore off standardized tests
