Good luck finding anyone here who supports that ideal. Musk dont, MAGA dont.
Musk is left of center, and you morons still cant figure that out.

So did solyndra, but Elon has produced products and services that have changed the world. Solyndra received a $535 million dollar guaranteed loan only to declare bankruptcy 2 years later.

I’m not sure about that.

What does Mexico have to do with any of this?

In 2 billion years we probably wont be needing to think about where else we are going to preserve human life (if we are still even really human) in our solar system. hopefully we figure that out in the next 1000 years.

Those of us who have doubts on Musk's vision arent just pissing on it for no reason. The timeline just for the HLS to go to the moon has been pushed back to 2028. We were supposed to be sending test flights a year ago and Starship still hasnt made orbit. Space travel is hard....shite happens and timelines get pushed back but Musk keeps promoting these timeline that simply dont make sense. I hope we get there in my life time. I think surely we will sometime this century, but probably only for short visits.

Also...while I generally support the pushing of boundaries for human exploration, this notion that Mars can or is going to serve as a insurance policy for humanity anytime soon is silly. We will have to genetically modify our selves to live on Mars long term as the environment will wreak havoc on every bodily system of folks that staying there long term. Thats not even considering the issues with reproduction. In fact I would say its unconscionable to even consider a colony on Mars until we understand how to counter the negative biological effects of a long term stay on Mars

Elon Musk was a darling of the American left until he joined DOGE.

Thats the only reason you folks hate the guy.

I am lukewarm because he is an idealist, which ironically so are marxists and MAGA.

the fact of the matter is the only place humans can live that we know of is…earth. If there were another earth like planet close enough to reach we’d know about it already. “Terraforming” is a science fantasy. The exploration of the solar system will be unmanned no matter what Elon musk says or does.

Forget mars, it’s a nightmare scenario for humanity plus there’s nothing there to make it worth our while. Nor is there anything on the moon. The big prize is in the asteroid belt…you would think the worlds richest man would be spending his time and energy trying to figure out how to mine and bring back some of that bonanza of riches just spinning around out there

I generally agree with everything you said.....Mars sucks...but I think getting human footprints on the planet would be/ could be a unifying effort for our species...but it would mostly an accomplishment for accomplishment sake. Perhaps we get some extraordinary spin off tech that gets us closer to the belt mining.

The only thing left is that I left the Republican party when they became neo-liberal theocrats.

I called him a bullshite artist 10 years ago when my liberal fans thought Tesla was amazing. Just like I thought TACO was a bullshite artist back when he was supporting the Clintons and profiting off bankruptcies.

If you disagree, you're a leftist. It's a simple argument.

Hes aiming for sustainable life on Mars. The buildup towards that is immense and takes much longer than if the goal was merely to reach Mars

So, he's either going to have to build megastructures to act as biodomes or find a way to create an artificial magnetosphere around a planet without the necessary iron core to make sustain its own. Colonizing Mars will take several centuries on a very small scale.

He still can't get his space ship into orbit.
