On that note, there is no greater joy than seeing a group of cars that work together and keep that one idiot, who comes flying up in the right lane, stuck behind a big rig. Bonus points if said idiot gets further railroaded and actually loses spots.
This is a small joy in my life that I’ll never get enough of. I’ll even speed up just to block that asshat in.

I get more irritated at the 18-wheeler doing 71 that feels the need to pass the other 18-wheeler going 70 so it takes forever for them to overtake and just stacks up traffic behind them in both lanes.

I notice the last few years, especially in the south, it is fairly normal to ride someone's bumper even when they're doing 10-over in the left lane and a line of cars in front.
I really only drive in the South. But, I can confirm driving from Texas to Florida. If you leave merely a carspace between you and car in front of you then someone will move into it.
I cannot wait for Driverless Cars. We deserve it. People are giant arseholes.

What I have noticed worse, is people just cruising in the passing lane and not using it for passing.
A far worse problem (and I drive a lot) is people squeezing into spots in passing lane when traffic is flowing properly. This causes everyone in the left lane to brake and creates a trickling effect back. If you leave a mere car length gap someone will shoot over causing everyone to brake that were progressing smoothly.
People talk about the car going slow in left lane but that is so few and far between these days. Everyone is in a hurry. It is the selfish arsehats that squeeze in that is the problem these days.

Not in my experience, but it's not so much they're going slow but rather slower than the prevailing speed of the cars around them. Like if there's a line of 6 cars doing 80 and they come up on car in the left lane doing 75, it's going to cause problems. One, because that one car won't get over when they have the chance, and two because some of those 6 drivers are going to get impatient.

Need speed limits for context, honestly. If a car is doing 75 in a 65 and other cars are doing 80 then it isn't a big deal to be honest. Going 75 in a 65 is reasonable. That 5 mph will not save you any time.
But, I rarely just see some slow arse car in Left lane.
But, non-stop all day every day you will have a car cutting into the left lane into a smoothly running line of cars and completely jack it up causing everyone to brake.

Tailgating is a lot of work what with tents, food prep, trash, TV set ups , etc. So yes, it's getting worse.

eff em, they can slow down and wait for me to finish passing.

Here is what grinds my gears, in no particular order:
- The person with no situational awareness. This applies to semi trucks also. I can't stand it when a car in front jumps out to pass when there isn't a person in sight behind me. Could've waited 5 seconds and had no problem. It doesn't take much effort to look around you frequently and be aware of what's happening.
- Drivers who think that they are the safety monitor. Just because 72 in a 70 is safe for you, doesn't mean you aren't going to cause a wreck.
- The "dragonflies". Mostly attributed to cellphone use but not always. They will fly past you and then you catch up with them, have to pass, and then they fly past you again. Repeat for 15 miles.
- "Mr. Try to gain one spot in a line of traffic. We get it. You're in a hurry to get to the PTA or whatever. I'm normally a pretty aware driver so I can see you coming. I will actively make you get stuck in the right lane if I can.
- The "I'm too scared to drive in the rain" person. If you cannot safely operate a vehicle in the rain, stay home. Do not put your hazards on when it rains hard. Pull over and wait until conditions improve.
- Last but not least, the grandparent that should not be driving anymore. This is prevalent, for me, on the back roads of AP and LP. 35 in a 55 is not only a hazard for me, but you are a rolling road block for inattentive or over-aggressive drivers.
Honorable Mention: Drivers who don't properly use turn signals, etc. Sure, jam on your brakes to make a turn. Also, make sure that you are trying to make a left turn on a busy highway so that every car behind you has to jam on their brakes.

Is this cool and I missed the memo?
People get irate about slow left lane drivers (which I agree is annoying and can be unsafe), but tailgating frequently gets a pass on this board.
Your Raptor being 10 feet from the back of a minivan going 75 in the left lane is a bigger problem than the minivan going the speed limit hanging out on the left - real talk

You guys crack me up. You are mad at drivers for doing what you say they are supposed to be doing? You angry people driving like crazy are the problem. Not the people driving well over speed limit and smoothly passing.

That's good and all, but if you're impeding traffic in the left lane, you're in the wrong. If you're passing, that's fine. But speed up and finish passing and get the frick over as soon as possible.

Tailgating and cutting into tight openings is far worse a problem these days. It isn't even close.

By all means, complete your pass. When you pass that car, move over into the right lane. I get annoyed at the driver who will stay in the left lane to continue passing a car that may be 100-200 yards ahead instead of moving over.

I just don't think you're winning this one very often. If someone is going above the speed limit and actively passing cars such that the car 100 or 200 yards ahead is going to be overtaken in a matter of seconds, they're probably not going to disengage cruise control and hit the breaks to get out of your way.

If I am going 80 in a 70 and you are going 83. And I am passing cars in Right lane with ease, you can frick off. That is the majority of the issues and I drive a lot between TX and FL.

Maybe I should be more clear. I'm not normally annoyed at anyone traveling at a reasonable speed. I try to be patient as I spend a good deal of my time on the road. I'm talking about the person who is barely passing cars and causing a stack up. Just wishful thinking. If I'm passing and a faster car comes up behind me I'll get over as soon as possible, even if that means I have slow down for a bit. After you pass me, I continue on.

Unless you're in Texas on one of those 80 mph speed limits, the person going 90 can go frick themselves.

Monday,
good list. Let me add
*the drivers that slow 20mph because they cannot negotiate a large sweeping curve (think I-10/610 split here in NOLA)
*those that are so entitled they must block 3 or 4 lanes of traffic leaving a parking lot to get in the left lane to make a turn instead of taking a right and merging or just making the block.
