I've got an iPhone with AT&T. I've been on their Next plan for about two years now so my "contract" is almost paid in full my wife has an older iPhone and has no contract. How easy is it to switch to Verizon? Can we use our current phones or will we have to trade in and buy new ones with Verizon?

Will have to get new phones. Other than that it's very easy.

Very easy and can keep your number. Last several disasters, work phone AT&T was useless. My personal phone Verizon never missed a beat.

Like what was said above it is very easy. After hurricane Isaac, I switched. Me and the wife had AT&T and service was down for days. I used my son's verizon phone to contact family and work and it worked throughout the storm. I have had no regrets with verizon yet.

What are the cost differences? Any disadvantages?

Look to pay 10-20% more with Verizon. Well worth it IMO

So what? An extra 7-14 bucks a month? Worth it, in my opinion.

Switched to Verizon about 4 years ago. No issues. Better than ATT.

We switched to Verizon when we moved to Dallas last year. Our bill actually was quite a bit cheaper. And they told us we could use our old AT&T phones but if we wanted to upgrade in the near future, to do it then. They gave us a trade in value that was pretty decent and like an extra $100 or so on our trade in. So we pay $17ish a month for the 6s. Also, our service is so much better. Hope this helps!

Cellphone companies have to release your number to another provider if you want to leave. You must have your AT&T account number, address, and the social it was created with. You don't even have to talk to AT&T--just go to a Verizon store. You will be billed for the remaining balance on your phone and your service up to the day you switch. May be worth it for you for. However, the grass is not always greener. Oftentimes, it's exactly the same shade.

Losing unlimited data/text/talk is not worth switching for most.

Can you talk and browse at the same time with Verizon? Last time I had Verizon I couldn't.

For this very reason, I will never leave att. Knock on wood, it would take several more incidents like this to break me. And I know I'm not alone

I average 34 gigs of data a month. That would be north of $200 if I didn't have unlimited data. Can't beat my $90 plan.
