Did you read the part about the sewage in St. Francisville and the Mississippi being very polluted.

No thanks.

13 yr old me is test case.

i had the mile swim badge already.

me and friend, paul, at pauls suggestion, are going to swim the Delaware on the south side of the burlington bristol bridge.
about 2 miles south of bridge. river is at least a mile there. probably more.
but unlike ops Mississippi the Delaware at edgewater park where we got in, is subject to tides. its still.
looks easy right?
ha! we are 3/4 mile across when a ship coming from venezuela with iron ore for bethlehem steel comes up river. we observe. we know that if we are in the channel when it comes by we will be sucked in and chopped up by the propeller.
we kick. think about it.
already halfway and have to kick. we did. no cramps. hitting the crawl like Olympians.
we got to the bouy on the pennsylvania side of the ship channel and watched ship go by.
never again.
oh wow.
im so damn lucky.
nearly killed myself a few times as kid.

Safer trying to swim Lake Ponhartrain especially at the twin spans. Swimming the River is a moronic exercise performed by idiots.

With two weeks to get my stroke back in shape I would easily make it across. Any good swimmer would.

1. Could you make it?

This is the OT. I'd walk across.
