are you engaging him?
Are you going to risk getting mistaken by other law enforcement for the bad guy by involving yourself?
shite would be scary, all they need is 2 shooters to go up on radio....

I thought about that myself, but wouldn't do anything for fear that the police would think I was with him and I would be dead.

Tough call for sure.

What the frick do you know? Adrenaline pumping, officers screaming, shots being fired, target moving and you dont think it was that difficult?
Posted on 7/19/16 at 9:09 am to meauxjeaux2
is it illegal to keep a SWAT tshirt next to rifle?

what an ugly fricking gun
Bullpups are supposedly better for close combat, with the mag well in the rear and the trigger way forward on the barrel. Makes it a short barrel rifle, without having to get a tax stamp.

I also think that anyone that is trained as a SWAT team member would tell you that the shot taken by the officer was not incredibly difficult, as outlined by the OP.
Well, the BRPD lieutenant (at the press conference) disagrees with this. He seemed to find it pretty impressive. I'd be willing to bet (since he's the head honcho) he has quite a bit of experience.

Throw in the fact that the perps gun had an Eotech sight on it,
I believe the sight was a mepro 21, also used by the Israeli Defense.
ETA: I was also talking about combat range, not long range accuracy.

I would guess a Remington 700 with Win Mag .300
No doubt a 700.. I'm thinking more along the lines of a .308 and/or .338 lapua

A lot of talk of a .338, but a .308 is the better rig for most urban snipping scenarios. Shots will be 300 yards or less and the short action rifle will be easier to set up and handle. Also, the .308 would be much cheaper at the range. The larger calibers really shine when wind is a factor, although the .308 does well with that, also.

Really not that difficult of a shot TBH
This is correct, IMHO. Despite the downvotes.
It's not taking away from the officer's poise/wherewithal to get the job done, and I'm most certainly glad that POS criminal is no longer breathing oxygen, but in pure gunspeak, it was a only a moderately difficult shot, especially with a decent scope.

I would obviously agree with him, since he is well aware of what happened.

Also, the rifles the POS was using. There isn't soft armor made that will stop a 5.56 round.
Officers would have had to have been wearing ceramic or steel to have survived torso shots from those bullets.

look, the only comments made was simply about just the distance of the shot. it appears from mc that the circumstances of the shot was that legit. we have high expectations of our trained swat departments but this guy came through. he put himself out there, he made that shot. its fricking awesome. no need to get bent out of shape with people noting a 100 yd shot alone isn't that overly difficult for the trained professionals.

I didn't get all the .338 talk either. This isn't the mountains of Afghanistan where your target is half a mile away.
.338 seems like extreme overkill for urban engagements.

Again, we are only referencing what was in the OP.
Since then, people who are in the know have said the officer took the shot very quickly, while under fire, in an exposed position.
Obviously, making the shot under this kind of duress is much more difficult.
I really think people are arguing over nothing.

I read somewhere that normal accuracy under duress is around 20%, so I would say it was a dam good shot under the circumstances.
