Should be interesting. Affluent frat boys who are used to daddy getting them out of trouble vs. pretty rich 70808 that definitely does not want them there.
Every single one of those subdivisions has a detail cop and the neighbors are going to start giving them an earful. That area is money that money contributes to campaigns and expects something in return. If noise, public intoxication, and dangerous driving become a thing on Highland because of them, bet your arse, the neighbors are going to insist on frat boys going to parish lockup every single time and spending quality time getting to know their new NBR friends. May start with some summonses, but the more tired people get, the more the police may start leaning on them. What's more, city police ain't all friendly like campus cops who have to put up with some of the B.S.

They should have bought Sean Vincent Gillis’s house.

So this isnt going to be Animal House on the weekends?
The recent pattern seems the dufus chapters try too hard and get in trouble while the old established chapters mostly fly under the radar. DKE is taking their medicine and will eventually be back on campus. These guys have crossed the Rubicon and will never be officially recognized again.

Maybe LSU can expel them and the Dean of Students can notify their local draft boards to let them know they are all eligible for military service.

No they don’t.

A large number of the people living in that area (meaning the subdivisions on Highland near Lee) are in homes that have been in the family forever, and actually aren’t super wealthy or anything. Or (*gasp*) renters. Yes, there are probably more “campaign donors” per capita in 70808 than the city as a whole but you’re making it out to be Bocage which is certainly not the case. At least not outside of specific areas like the lakes and, to a lesser extent, Garden District. Neither of which are anywhere near this house.

I can assure you the neighbors are much more worried about the shithole apartments on Highland (the old Highland Plantation) than a single frat house.
You’re making the area out to be something that it’s just not. The immediate area around that house is mostly apartments, businesses, and shitty rent houses anyway… with a handful of high-dollar renovations mixed in.

May those who wrecklessly haze others avoid felonies
May those willing to be hazed wrecklessly for social value avoid flat lining.
May responsible adults lend a hand to both along the way.

I'm not saying it is just the immediate area that is concerned. Anyone that lives down Highland past Lee isn't going to be excited about a frat house there. No one wants to worry about their son, daughter, mother driving down Highland at night because some drunk frat boys are on the road. That worry extends further down the road than I think you may anticipate. And yes, a lot of those people have money and will use it to protect their families.
When that frat gets out of line (wrecks on Highland, blocking traffic, loud music, etc.) the police complaints will get overwhelming. It will not take long before BRPD stops finding it amusing.

“They should have bought Sean Vincent Gillis’s house.“ this is about a block away . I wonder if the neighbors were worried about living by a serial killer.
I doubt they plan on sleeping there.

DKE got fricked and LSU is fricking the rest now. LSU Greek system is a disaster, and it is causing long term damage Add to that lower/no entrance standards, racial quotas, a woke administration, and crime on campus, you are driving people away.

Because there were so many drunk driving wrecks on old/new row before? Dalrymple? Etc.

We need a new state law limiting university's liability that would deter this sort of money grab
That’s a good idea. May allow the U to chill out some and not be required to play babysitter/Greek police, within reason.

My nephew was the President of this frat last year. A bunch of these fellas already live close by on Highland now. Plenty of animals in this frat, and I expect the house to get wrecked.

In the early 90s it was one of those upscale mini-shops places where overcapitalized second and third wives opened up tiny shop spaces selling candles or specialty teas so they could have something to do while their husbands were off working to pay for the money-losing shops their second and third wives had in that building.
That was almost exactly how I remembered it.

But it's ok when a group of (insert other LSU sports team, clubs, organizations here) haze, fight, rape, do illegal drugs, get drunk etc. How much shite has been ignored, downplayed, let pass or swept under the rug when involving others besides the Greeks?
Treat them the same.
When frats start making millions for the university then it might matter.

The word frat still makes me cringe.

So you condone covering up rape and sexual assault as long as they're making the school loads of money.
