She never re-fastened her seat belt, hoping her kidnapper’s wouldn’t take notice of the beeping safety alarm.
“I was thinking somehow I have to get out of this,” she told the paper. “Can I crash the car? No, because it might knock me out and not them. Can I pull over or something? I have to get away from them.”
One of the men told Dinsmore they were heading to a relative’s house, where she would have sex with one of his friends, The State reported.
At one point, the captors told her to take a right. But the brave victim drove straight through the intersection, ignoring the men as they demanded she pull over.
Then she threw the car in neutral and jumped out at about 35 miles per hour, according to the report.

I just want to point out that hate crimes are an absurd notion altogether. If you kill/rape/assault someone, I'm pretty sure you hate that person.

15 years old committing kidnapping with intent to rape.

Did she have a rebel flag decal or statue on her car?
If she did, I understand how seeing a rebel flag or statue could make you wanna kidnap and rape girls.

Not necessarily. Sometimes you just love someone so much that you have to rape and kill them so that you can wear their skin and feel the true connection that the universe wants for the two of you forever.

I can understand the argument that poverty can lead people to desperate actions, but rape and murder is not something that simply being poor induces. Cultural attitudes are responsible for that level of immorality.
And then certain groups go on TV and march in the streets completely ignoring this fact and blaming cops and institutional racism for a problem that is much bigger and simpler than that.

Every murder by definition includes manslaughter but both crimes exist; there are tons of examples where one crime contains all of the elements of a lesser crime but a higher threshold regarding intent.
I get what you are saying, but you being "pretty sure" that there was (your personal definition of) hatred involved in a crime is very different than meeting the legal standards for proving a hate crime.
Hate crimes add an additional element that needs to be satisfied (and therefore are harder to prove) but can include a stronger punishment. Additionally, making something a federal hate crime provides an additional venue if a crime is ignored at the state/local level.
