Lakeview people pay way too much money to live in Lakeview to have to put up with this kind of shite.

We have some customers in New Orleans.

My son will drive and I’m going to be in the bed with shotguns( plural),handguns(plural)and “assault rifles” the next time we go there. Riding “shotgun”. Going to do my best to not let them get the drop on my son and I.

yeah yeah yeah wtf ever... also...

we're totally not in a recession despite being two quarters of negative gdp

Trump was impeached for supposedly bribing Ukraine and Biden actually did so and admitted on tape

Hunter's laptop is Russian disinformation despite NYT owning up to it belonging to Hunter and Biden never denying it

Arguing with a democrat is like arguing with a brick wall. That brick wall lives in a s***hole and will never (1) move (2) admit to being in a s***hole.

Never quite understood why someone would pay twice as much for a house, pay a lot more in property taxes, have to pay more for auto and home insurance, have terrible public infrastructure and no police protection just to have "New Orleans" on your official address.

All to live in Bucktown East.
Literally across the canal you have lower taxes, decent infrastructure, great police protection, etc. It's not like lakeview has unique New Orleans architecture or landscapes or anything. And Old Metairie is way nicer.

But whatever floats your boat, I guess....

I understand what you’re saying but you also have to remember that in order to send you kids to Ben Franklin and Hynes you must live in Orleans Parish.

That’s where a lot of those peoples kids go to school

I was recently carjacked. I found NOPD’s responsiveness to the incident and vehicle recovery surprisingly prompt.

NOPD did/does have substantial assistance from the Feds.

In my experience NOPD response times tend to lag on MVAs, but officers are generally as attentive as staffing levels allow.

Old Metairie is more expensive than Lakeview.

I have this irrational fear that this will happen to me. Like they'll pull a gun and make me get out and I will say let me get my son out the car, and they just take off. No idea why, but I think about this scenario far more than I should. I guess if it happens I either hope they'll let me grab him, or I'll have to fight and risk getting shot. I've played umpteen scenarios out in my mind.

Oh great, I'm not crazy. Good to know

My scenario always ends with me getting shot up but them fleeing and leaving my children safe.

Dead Hero Martyr Complex apparently.

I’ve heard stories of people in the hood placing cinder blocks or other stuff in the road so you have to get out and move them, then take your car.

If I ever came upon something like this I’m driving through it, around it or reversing.

Home prices? For the most part. Not property tax, insurance, car repair (due to wartorn streets in NO), or just about anything else.
Also, best of all: peace of mind.

sure, like a 95%/5% mix, but let's be real, those people just want the 70124, they aren't living in Lakeview for the schools

Yes, and much much more expensive as well. The housing prices in Bucktown aren't much cheaper than in Lakeview lately. Most people I know who live in LV live there because a lot of it is walkable, there are tons of kids, and they built on empty lots. I have never heard a person say they live there because of an address.

Yeah, no one really brags about living in Lakeview. Even though I would live there, it’s not something the people I know that live there brag about.

To be a carjacking it needs to be forcibly stolen. If you leave your car running and someone takes it. It's a lessor charge then if they force you out the car.

Would this not qualify as a grand theft auto?
