Don't expect the OT or the general public to be able to comprehend this. Anyone who spends 5 minutes at Tulane/Broad would know Leon's office is a pain in the arse for defense lawyers to deal with, they don't easily relinquish cases of any kind, and the typical plea offer for just about any case is 10yrs double bill.

Yep, there hasn't been a higher acceptance rate, conviction rate or guilty plea percentage in Orleans Parish in our lifetime.

Does this not concern anyone else? This guy (regardless of whether he is a pos) spent six months in jail for a crime that the DA did not have enough evidence to indict him for. That is incredibly tragic in modern day America. I suppose the Constitution means nothing anymore.

Suspects shouldn't in prison anyway. That's for convicts.

Orleans parish sends more people to prison than most places in the world. Yet the morons will keep running around screeching about the DA and catch and release judges. For all the things I hate about Leon's office, a lack of effort to put people in prison was not one.

I know they're probably understaffed and put behind the 8 ball by a "not so good" police department. That said, I do not agree with a lot of what I see out of his office. Doesn't affect me really since I'm not in his parish but either way...

The entire criminal justice system is broken in New Orleans and in Louisiana. New Orleans just takes all the PR over the inherently broken system that permeates throughout the entire state of La.
Until you solve the these issues:
1. Bail Bond corruption.
2. Judicial Incompetence/Corruption
3. Public Defender Offices staffing/competency issues.
4. D.A. incompetence/corruption
5. Police quality & competency problem
6. Public confidence issues in all 5 sectors above
The system will remain broken. It will take a 20 people to fix the situation but I don't see 20 people in Orleans Parish who are willing to put their reputations on the line to coordinate with others to fix this situation.
Until you solve the these issues:

I totally understand that, but many people if not put in prison while awaiting trial would take off and never be found for years, if ever.
What I don't get is how you can be held without even being charged.

He was kept in jail on an unrelated traffic charge, but the judge did purposefully go after keeping him in jail because of the Domino's thing
