Surgery Was Canceled Today

So at 34 I'm having tonsils, adenoids and uvula removed as well as a turbonid reduction.
It was scheduled for 6 am tomorrow. In fact the called at 10 am to set up the time. Today it was canceled at 4pm because the anesthesiologist didn't feel comfortable putting me under.
Damn, that's some arrogant, inconsiderate shite. Forget I've arranged for people to civet for me at work for the next week or so. Forget my girlfriend took off for three days to be my live in nurse. You don't put someone through the stress of impending surgery for four days and then say,"Just kidding."
That's just cruel.

Sounds like they were concerned about something important if they didn't want to put you under.

Sorry, conflicting schedule with my tee time.

Dude going under is serious shite. I'd listen to the doctor.

Are you sick? Hbp? Need more info. Would you rather him out you under and you die? I personally want my dr to be comfortable with the procedure.

No but I have apnea due to a variety of obstructions in my throat and nose. So, everyone was cool with it until up until 3pm this afternoon. Now they want to do it in a hospital rather than outpatient.
MO money
MO money
Mo money.
My surgeon was pissed. I've never seen him so mad and I've known him for 15 years.

Make the best of it and go on a quick trip somewhere.

I'd just raise hell and force them to put me under even though I'm high-risk. What could go wrong?

It's the timing that irritates me. I went for my pre op evaluation last Thursday. I meet with the head of the clinic, the head anesthesiologist, he was fine with everything and said we were good to go.
Well he went on vacation and the junior anesthesiologist took over. He was the one that was uncomfortable.
Still, you can't make that determination sooner than 16 hours prior to surgery?

I would definitely be pissed that the anesthesiologist didn't go ahead with the case. He should suck it up and go for it. No one would be inconvienced. If he is right, and you die, your girlfriend will have 3 whole weeks already scheduled out to deal with the funeral and all.

I would be livid! My condolences to you. Maybe request surgery under a different anesthesiologist's schedule?

They want to have a ventilator and an ICU bed handy when they screw your airway up and have to trach you.

I would be pissed but at the same time, if your airway is compromised in that setting, you're fricked. That being said, it should have been scheduled at a hospital surgery dept. from the beginning.

This is ironic because maybe the reason your surgeon buddy wanted to have it at the outpatient surgery center is because he would likely make more money. Is it a physician owned surgery center?
