Why do people on here hate places that are successful and print money?
i can't be honest about the food because they make money? a lot of shitty resturants print money.
Superior is to tex-mex what BB's is to cajun in Houston. Absolute garbage that is popular with people that don't know any better

Saw Fred Couples pull some cougar there years ago during the Regions Tournament. He didn’t even show up for the round the next day.

I think the thing with Superior is people here are legit angry about it sometimes. Like you said, there are tons of restaurants that aren't that great. Most people don't discuss them or care.
I don't think it's the best food ever, but there are items they do well. (Can only speak to Highland) Their grilled chicken is better marinated and more tender than any other restaurant I've ever had chicken, for example.

Eh. I think Superior is popular to the level it is for reasons that have nothing to do with food.
I'm not a big Mexican food person to begin with, but if someone wants Mexican in my group, I'm far more likely to agree to Superior because of the entire package. I like their margs, they have a 3.5 hour happy hour, they carry good wine, it's almost guaranteed to be a lively party atmosphere, it's very clean, they run a tight ship and service almost never sucks, etc.
It also appeals to a wide range of people, so when you have a mixed group of drinkers/single people + people with their kids in tow, everyone is happy going there. Not many places pull off being a family place and very much not a family place at the same time
Ir's more than just food, otherwise those hole in the wall authentic spots previously mentioned in the thread would have lines out the door every day.

Most likely because they weren't high enough on the money list to get favorable treatment at Superior, I saw Gary Koch and Chip Beck pull at the TGI Fridays out that way.
Yep, Chip fricking Beck.

"Hey, this girl I'm dating likes Tex-Mex and margaritas. Do you have any suggestions about where we can go get some drinks and chips/salsa?"
"Yeah, there's this place with 3 tables in a shopping center that has the most authentic lengua tacos, bro. It's waaayyy better than *insert actual Tex Mex restaurant that fits OPs request*."

I agree it’s not as good as the places there in texas. I think the atmosphere is more fun. Here in Baton Rouge it’s one of the best for any kind of Mexican

Superior is overrated trash at every location
Total dogshit food but it's more a place to go to find other miserable 40 somethings stuck on 280.

I agree with this. Successful restaurants sell more than food, they sell a good atmosphere and that's what Superior does partly due to happy hour.
And IMO, I think they have the best tex-mex in the area (which is still nothing to brag about, but for people who do enjoy tex-mex I can see why they would prefer to go to Superior).

I ate at one once, didn't know what it was before. Do they strip at all of them? Or just New Orleans?

I may resemble that remark.
But I am going to miss some Superior Grill for sure. The missus and I did enjoy many a overpriced margarita there while the kids filled up on burritos and chips.

Restaurants get their rents raised all the time, why couldn’t they just find a new location? If it was doing so well, seems easy enough. Generally speaking it’s not like they get their rent raised 1 month out.
280 corridor is pretty full baw. Not much prime RE left. They would had to have taken a spot on a cross road like Cahaba Valley.

Think it's Oak Mountain Brewery now.

Yes it is Oak Mountain Brewery. Which has some pretty good beers if you’re inclined to return.
