Both daughters doing gymnastics camp all summer for a half day then spend the remainder of the day at my parents. They both want to do more than one day a week during the year so we are going to see just how committed they really are. I figure if they go 5 days a week from 8-12 and actually still want to do it then we’ll go ahead and let them do the 3 days a week they want to do during the year.

Think in 3-4 years they could be a good little program, especially if they can get kids from lacrosse areas to board there, obviously not going to get kids that play at a high level from the northeast but just kids that get sent there from those areas that have affinity for the sport.
Soccer may be the most consistent and best sport at SSC currently, football with I believe there 4th coach in 5 years and 5th in 7 or something like that. Have all been good coaches though, and basketball has hit a bit of a rut it seems need to get back to program building which they will do. Baseball has always been good as well, Coach Logan runs a tight ship.
They have had a little success at kicking have a guy that kicks at Millsaps currently and believe they had kickers at places such as Catholic U in DC and Belhaven, so definitely worth a shot, in high school football the difference between having just a decent one and none is huge.
But congrats to your son, he will enjoy SSC and being a rock, also I think lacrosse on the coast could start to pickup, Ocean Springs has has a team for a long time, and would not surprise me to see Biloxi, Gulfport, St. Pats, Pass, Long Beach, and St. Martins field teams soon.
Also to keep on track for the thread for those interested SSC still has a very good summer camp that pulls kids from all over for the future.

Y'all don't send your kids to one+ month camps on the east coast?

My boy still has one more year at HTCS, so he's got a bit of time to learn lacrosse, hopefully they fold in some Jr High programs to teach these boys up.
He's been kicking for a few years, but with no game experience. Just practicing on the SSC field...dreaming about one day.
It's crazy to think about high school soccer, playing kids 3-4 years older than he is. He just played the best kids in state one year up (U13 vs U12) and holy crap. That was tough. I guess they stop growing so fast at some point though.

5? Lol. It's too late. Most of the blue chips are in that camp at 3 yo. Good luck to your son but hell never make the high school Team now.
jokes on you. he's starting pre-k 3 next year.
