As you all know, it's Hummingbird season again in Louisiana. The little guys migrate away from my area from October 6th to October 10th and don't return until spring.
They are getting ready for the long trip and they are sucking my feeder dry with the quickness. I think I'll put another feeder out there. These little guys seem hungry.
What's going on with the Hummingbirds in your area?

Seen any Boobies lately, when do they come out the most often?
I've always enjoyed a nice pair of boobies in the yard or just around town in the park.

Aren't people supposed to take them down at a certain point so they'll leave and survive?

Take them down after they all migrate away. They know when to depart.

I've had 5 all summer until 2 days ago in Jackson,La. Have 40+ on one feeder now. I'm about to fill it up for the 3rd time today.

We have tons of them. I think they are so cool.

Are they sucking it dry repeatedly and with gusto?
You have to admire their vigor and verve.

They’re tagging my Mexican Petunias

I'd like to tag a Mexican Petunia with vim, vigor and verve.

I've read it's ok to leave the feeders up year round. Resident birds will still be around and need the help. Am I misinformed?

Boobies are nice, but I prefer great tits-

I like Tits.
And I like it when a bird knows when it's time to go home, because I ain't runnin no year-round hotel.

can't argue with you there

Leave them up. A few ruby-throateds will stay behind and winter here. But you may also get some cool western species tat have been found to winter in Louisiana. Anna's, broad-billed, black-chinned, and s few others are found in Louisiana each winter.

It's the end of the season for BR. They'll all be gone by mid to late October. There's been a minor bump recently, still nowhere near the peaks in late April through June. The main thing I see at this time is the territorial male, who likes to guard the feeder.
I've cut back, but I used to put out a bunch of feeders and go through as much as 100 oz of 1:3 solution per day. This would feed 500+ birds, but I reckon they were feeding at other places as well, so more like 1000+.

Went to the Galapagos about a year ago and those things were fricking everywhere.

I have two feeders out and currently have 3 miniature F-16's fighting over them.
