Completely false. We were told by Fauci and the Surgeon General that they DON'T WORK. This is in response to people wearing them for their own protection and has nothing to do with the timing of viral spread.

Of course any barrier is better than no barrier at all, so for anyone to ever say they "don't work" is ridiculous. However, the surgeon general and Fauci both said exactly this.
The level of effectiveness can certainly be argued, especially when people are not wearing masks correctly.
But the main point of all this is that we are constantly being told to trust the experts and trust science, when we were directly lied to early on.
If you want people to trust you, perhaps don't lie to them.

Would you be for immediately outlawing alcohol?
It would save lives....
Would you be for outlawing dangerous activities such as bike-riding or competitive sports? It would save lives....
Would you be for MANDATORY exercise for all citizens?
NO DOUBT it would save millions of lives.
Would you be for only allowing 1 child per couple and no children for single-parents?
Absolutely NO DOUBT that last one saves lives and improves quality of life for others.

I work in healthcare. I’m a Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager. All of my Covid news does not come from social media.

Everything I propose will save lives.

Lied to is one thing. Maybe that happened. But from my chair we received bad information based off of early research and the governments attempt to keep people calm.
They should not have done that.
Yes wearing a mask incorrectly makes it less effective. This is obvious. Poking a hole in a condom makes it less effective as well for those that needed to hear that.
