I’m not a socialist I believe in the investment of the nation that yes you should own and enjoy your hard work.
However you don’t slam the door and lock it so you can hoard it from future generations.

most servers suck now anyway. As does most service. I'm not defending anyone who is a poor tipper, but I find it harder to justify tipping now given the piss poor level of service provided. Most service warrants a 15% tip now. Rare to find a level deserving of 20%+ in most establishments currently.

where in the hell do you come up with this? you think there's a conspiracy among "boomers" to lock the door behind them? I train a ton of you punks, presumably to be my replacement, and it's pathetic to see what a drop off in talent, experience, and professionalism as what I see day in and day out at work, really not a lot of capable hands coming up behind us, but they do all have one thing in common, they want the pay and compensation package

So the spread is 16.5 to 19%

I started college in 2010, at that time Marketing, business, and data analytics were great degrees now they are worthless. Markets change and what is worthless now was valuable a decade ago.

might be that a lot are now are on fixed incomes. not everyone is a retired OT baller with billions in the bank.
That said, I tip 15-20% at most sit down restaurants. I'm not tipping the burger flipper at a fast food place.
My barber charges $25 and I tip $10.

I imagine that age group is increasingly living on a fixed income, as well. Might factor in that.
They were also raised on the standard that you tip 15%. At some point the standard shifted to 20%. And I remember there was a middle ground trick where you could double the tax and round up and that would be about 18% but that was state specific.

Yes when an entire generation who bought affordable homes do everything they can to stop more affordable homes to be built so their property value increases every year is slamming the door.
Also yes typical boomer mindset again. A young adult who just started their career can’t replace the 30 year vet in just a few months.

can you provide some data, some credible data, to support this preposterous notion?

I could meet the standards required, as could just about all of my peers, not seeing that these days, hearing a shite ton of excuses though

Why lump the baby boomers in with all old folks?
Baby boomers were supposedly born between 1946 and 1964. That means they are 61-79 years old now; yet the survey says all people 61 years old and older.
Separate the baby boomers from older folks 80 years and older who came up during hard times when 10% was a great tip.

speaking of mindset, these younger employees could compensate for the lack of experience, talent, and professionalism by not being completely apathetic. Why don't you address that? I find the people who actually care and put in a little effort get a better tip. But you never seem to address any of that while ranting about how much boomers suck.

Yes you a person with decades of work and life experience knows how to adjust to work environment you are familiar with over that of a young adult with barely any life or job skills. Boomers can’t comprehend being a mentor like they had to get them to that position.

Imagine working 50 hours a week and not being able to afford the bare necessities and asking for maximum effort with 0 job upward mobility
