Start swinging? I would toss the bitch out a window at that point. Don’t care if it is on the ground floor or not.

They sure took it down fast

Maybe we need to create boot camp like schools, perhaps run by ex-Marine DIs to instill discipline and respect in students that act this way.
Get up at 4:30. March, run, do exercises, go to class, study, eat and sleep for as long as it takes. No cell phones, no TV, no computer outside of class.

I’m not generally in favor of new laws for every issue that exist BUT I really think we should consider whether kids should have smart phones.

The first problem is that its hard to tell the difference between the student and the teacher. To gain authority you need to dress more authoritive.
To the people who downvoted this. Its just because its me right?
If not, I can't be the only one who thinks teachers and students shouldn't be dressed similar to each other. I get wanting to relate to the kids, etc but how far do you want to take that? I am all for teachers who can relate to the kids, I am sure everyone is, but the kid shouldn't see that adult teacher as an equal.
Do you not think that influences behavior? I see these videos and its hard to know who is the teacher and who are the students. These kids need to know who is in control of those classrooms. The way a teacher dresses can help set that tone.

That's the problem, these kids today can't function without a phone.
I have to have mine too.
I'm not allowing anyone to take my phone without a fight

Instead of giving up the phone you snatched?

I think he's wrong for taking it; However, I would have a policy that if I see OR HEAR your phone, you get a zero for the day and suspended for the rest of class.

When I was in high school in the early 2000s, if we got caught with a phone, cd player, or any electronics, they were taken from us and not given back until the end of the school year.

Ban phones in the classroom. Any problems call the principal or SRO. Let them deal with juvenile delinquents.

Why hasn't this made the news?

So the grade is reflective of obedience and compliance and not learning.
We need to call it something other than education

This same teacher was punched in the face a few months ago by a different student.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Teachers who willingly stay in schools like this are part of the problem. If you value your career - or even value your life, find another school system to teach in. Because this one obviously ain't it.
