My neighborhood is trashy and lots of people park on the street in front of their house. Last night I noticed over half were parked opposite the direction of travel.

Do you park illegally against the direction of travel?

If these type of laws are no longer enforced, why are they still on the books?

Parking against traffic is a tale tell sign you are in a shitty neighborhood.

It's like an influx Assaultimas without license plates or people backed into their driveways.

It's a Metairie / New Orleans thing. People grew up with cars on the street and don't think about it. My neighborhood is full of post-Katrina transplants who park on the street despite having huge driveways. Pisses me off but I can't do anything about it.

That being said, when they park directly across from each other so you have to thread the needle between the cars? Makes me want to get out and light both cars on fire.

I mention my neighborhood but I see it everywhere around Acadiana.

ETA: Literally the first street view I picked on google maps in a 'fancy' neighborhood.

Is it really limited to just those areas? I always assumed it was a product of an older neighborhood that has short 1-car driveways in a society where you have a minimum of 2 vehicles per household.

This one is a mystery to me. You have room to park all of your cars off-street without blocking each other in, why wouldn't you want your car in a more protected spot.

I do not get the gripe above about people who back into their driveway/carport/garage. Sometimes it actually is easier, especially with cars that have longer doors that need more room

Where are they supposed to park, are there parking pads behind the houses?

Nothing pisses me off more than lazy people parking on the street when their driveway has plenty room.

Right above lazy people parking in their driveway because they’re too lazy to clean up or throw away the worthless clutter in their garage.

They can park in the street but they are not parking in accordance with the law.

Hell we have parking cops putting tickets on cars in driveways if they are blocking the sidewalks (city law.)

You probably need to sell that cyber truck and move to any neighborhood that the residents don't park on the street.

About 10 years ago, my wife and I moved from a decent looking neighborhood that looked great in the daytime but at night, both sides of the street had cars parked by the curb.

The houses were zero lot lined and had little room to build a parking pad for an extra vehicle. Young families had their garages full of furniture or plastic toys and if they had a teenager with their own car, there was no room for them to park in the driveway, so that car ended up on the street.

We drove by last week and the whole neighborhood looked like a used car lot.

Parking board. If you aren’t part of the solution you’re part of the problem

Quit worrying about how I park and quit walking in the middle of the road.

They are certainly enforced in my area. If you are driving and hit a parked car facing the wrong direction, you are not liable for damages in Mississippi!
