A guy at the SO's office building went missing for 3 or 4 days. They found him dead in the bushes next to the building. He apparently fell off the roof. 15 story drop.

Another guy I knew, who was doing well business wise, shot himself in his car at a gas station. Dude made like $3million the week before and never showed signs he was that bad off mentally.

Guy I worked with on my first boat named Jackson. He was a normal guy... seemed happy and all. Last time I saw him was in 2004.

Fast forward to 2007 and I see another guy I used to work with on my first boat. We're talking and he says "Did you hear about Jackson?"

Apparently he was on vacation and decided to take a flying leap from his hotel room 10 stories up. Poor bastard...

how do you not know you have diabetes? I mean he didnt have ANY sympoms? i find that odd.

You can have symptoms but not have any clue that it relates to something serious.

I was diagnosed with type 1 when I was 13. I had just started high school and was complaining of being tired and thirsty for about a week. My mom thought I was just having trouble adjuting to a new schedule. We went on a family vacation over labor day and she noticed exactly how many fluids I was taking in (didn't help that at the time we were on vacation and going to baseball games and my drink of choice was Coke). Got home she had me tested ASAP. Blood sugar was around 680 and was admitted to children's hospital immediately for a week to learn about it and how to take care of myself.

I alone had no clue. I didn't even know what diabetes was let alone the symptoms.

Yeah, I think you're right. He was an endodontist if I recall. My dentist referred me to him and set me up with an appointment. Called me a few days later and cancelled and changed it to someone else. I didn't think too much about it and just figured he was either overbooked or on vacation. The next time I went to my dentist he told me what happened. Terribly sad.

I only hope that when my time comes that it happens at a hospital or something. I can't imagine my wife or kids being the ones to find me after something tragic like that.

A friend of my mom tried to playfully startle her husband by dropping an ice cube down the back of his neck as he was watching TV. Apparently the sudden shock caused him to have a brain aneurysm and then a stroke. He died shortly after.

Makes you wonder how we didn't hear about things like this when the ice bucket challenge was going viral.

I have not read all the posts so I could be wrong....but I think I have the winner here.

10 years ago my neighbor called asking me to bring a tool I had for shutting off the water valve in the meter box. He noticed a flow of ice coming out of a house on our road and didn't want to stick his hand in the flooded box to shut off the water.

We assumed a pipe had frozen and burst. We shut off the water and knocked on the door but there was no answer and the ladys car was in the drive so we called the police.

The cops busted the door and when they came out they looked like they saw a ghost. The lady slipped in the shower and fell through the wall. When she went through the wall a water pipe broke and pierced into her torso in such a way that she was unable to free herself. The puncture was not the cause of death as it did not hit anything vital... the hot water from the pipe flowing into her torso killed her. I did not enter the house but saw what they brought out. One portion of her body had been slow cooked and the other portion was preserved from where the cold water from the shower head flowed over her body. Absolutely bizarre.

So...thanks for all of this...

So far, I'll never do the following ever again:

Eat frosted flakes, play football, shoot a bow, go to the top of any building, take a shower, eat crawfish, carry a pen in my vehicle, own a nightstand, or one of my usual favorite leisure activities-zip myself in a bodybag...

Knew this guy from HS who accidentally killed somebody. He was a real good dude, and was at Purdue for college.

One night he and his roommates were drinking at their apartment. One of em owned a pistol. The guy I know thought it'd be funny to scare his buddy when he came out the bathroom. He dropped the magazine, and pretended to shoot his buddy. Sad part is the guy knew very little about guns, including the fact that there could be a round in the chamber. Shot his best friend point blank in the face.

A friend, a friend of his and his two kids disappeared while going to their cabin via boat. They found kids toys and one small piece of boat remnants in the water and it's believed a humpback destroyed their boat. Humpback boat collisions aren't uncommon but one breaching onto a boat would obliterate it.

There was a crazy story from about three years ago about a British guy who worked for MI5 or MI6. He was found dead in a (empty) bathtub inside a relatively small duffel bag. There was speculation that he was murdered because he was involved in intelligence work. But I think the investigation finally concluded that he'd put himself in there and just couldn't get out. Apparently, in the wide, wide world of sexual fetishes, some people get off by spanking it in a very confined space. Go figure...

I googled...

A guy I worked with at Samsung was sent to the main facility in Korea. He came up missing, they found him a day or 2 later in the alley behind his hotel. Conclusion was that he went out on his balcony to smoke, had a heart attack, and fell over the railing.

I didn't know him personally, but say him a couple of times a week. Sent a shock through the company.
