Fencejumping has been happening for at least the last 10 years. With cell phones,twitter, social networks, large groups of people who dont know each other can coordinate and mobilize within minutes. It's like a herd of zebra, they all go into it knowing some are going to get caught, some are not going to make it. But they play the odds. If that many people attack a small stretch of temporary fencing, there's not much that can prevent at least a good portion of them getting in for free.
A kid died years ago at Lolla, as he was with a group of fence jumpers sprinting across Michigan Ave at full speed, got clipped by a car.Nowadays, the perimeter of Grant Park looks almost like a prison, with 10' tall fence panels and CPD patrolling the sidewalks with horses and ATV's. They break up any groups of kids that are walking together into smaller groups to deter them from storming the access points
It's just getting worse and worse as time goes on

Have you ever been to a general admission show with about 15 or 20 thousand fans? It's no place for a kid if it gets a little unruly.
