Well, that sucks the big one. Now with that extra time offshore, will that give this storm to build?

Nah. Cristobal is a mess and this doesn't change that.

The Weather Channel just showed a segment with Mike Seidel and his man boobs with the mayor. They are experiencing some significant flooding which took them by surprise.

Water will keep pushing north until this thing passes and starts pushing the water north to south.

Were they standing in a ditch?
You never know these days, and you hate to even have to ask.

I watched that. The mayor said, “this was totally unexpected so that’s why we issued the mandatory evacuation”.

I mean, I know what he was trying to say but it didn’t sound very smart.

That advisory makes it sound like GI maybe isn’t going to get a terrible storm surge. Anyone have a webcam link to the Island?

Water is starting to fall at Grand Isle as the tide falls.

Shell Beach, on the other hand, has a ways to go. Water is 5'+ over predicted tidal levels.

High tide is expected within the hour, so we'll see what happens.

Only about 1.6 feet above the natural lunar tide, but the lunar tide is at the high end of its normal range and it was high tide an hour or so ago.

They're making shite up then. They got tides 2 feet over normal. That was basically the minimum projection, so to say it was unexpected is bologna.

Exactly my first thought when I saw that. The mayor commented that the house was owned by some big shrimp buyer.

Things are calm as can be here in Madisonville. It’s getting time for the FBD.

Mayor since 1994. Must be some real Rhodes Scholars living in Grand Isle to keep electing this bum.
