Ida is coming into central Mississippi. I’m actually nervous and I can’t sleep.

For those coming from Texas on 10, state troopers are all over the place from the state line to Jennings.

Leave it to LA to line its own pockets from residents trying to come back from evacuation.

90 seems like a better bet. One tree can stop you on Hwy 1.

That may be your best bet. I may see how far I can get on 90 today. I don’t expect I’ll get there, but I’ll at least have an idea.

Was Lafitte area under a mandatory evacuation? I just don’t understand how they didn’t issue that for that area. Not everyone would have left but would be a lot less people getting stuck if there was an evacuation order.

In walker we lost roof tiles, fence is down in areas, and plenty of debris. Nothing compared to the hell that I am sure points closer to the gulf are waking up to.

Even with those incredible wind velocities, storm surge is usually the most destructive part of the hurricane, especially at the coastline. The fact that so many of the structures in that community are elevated is a big plus. See Holly Beach during Rita. I don’t there was a structure left standing.

yep the difference in holly beach between Rita and Laura is staggering and goes to show how much better construction is now a days.

everyone complains about the DR horton homes but in laura they held up way better than older custom homes from the 70s/80s.

The meteorologists were calling for this thing to have 130+ mph winds 3 days ago. Maybe it is me, but I just don't understand the logic of staying when you know a category 4 hurricane is inbound.

Man that’s ridiculous.

Only benefit of the doubt I can give them is that a major wreck/traffic jam due to people driving recklessly would cause more problems for people.

Yeah hopefully they aren’t doing random radar and pulling over people going 75. If there are there to help with stuff then fine.

Plenty of trees down, but no flooding. Nothing catastrophic unless a tree hit their house.
