No need to panic yet like I said we most likely won’t have anything concrete until the center forms early Friday. Told wife this morning the only thing to do right now is fill up gas tanks and maybe clean up the yard.

The chances that the models nail it down within 200 or so miles from 6 days out is very low, so while I wish they were burying this in Mexico or dissolving it altogether, I wouldn’t start running around expecting the world to end in lower Iberia parish.

The GFS wants

It's a computer model. It doesn't "want" anything.

Why do people insist on sensationalizing everything?

"Latest GFS has sub 940 mb hurricane hitting Louisiana."

Easily under the character limit for Twitter, and it just states the facts.

What happened to that Saharan dust that was saving us? Rven this far out, this sucks.

While I agree don't panic yet but with supply lines already tight at stores getting supplies early will not hurt especially since Hurricane season is really just getting started.

If this one misses us you will be ready for the next one!

Yeah you should be prepared in coastal LA at all times during the year. Surely last year taught everyone that.

If you’re in coastal LA or Texas down to Corpus you should have a plan for early next week. You just hope not to need it.

My post was just to say it’s a little early for all the LC will be a ghost town talk or Lafayette is going to get smashed.

On a rational level, of course. Unfortunately, last year beat all of the rational out of me when it comes to hurricanes

I don't know if I can take another major event, but I don't know how I would be able to move, either. I have a lot of other shite going on in my life, too.

Operational run of the GFS is definitely on the eastern end of the ensembles.

I’m low key hoping this slams us here in AP because I have an enormous water oak that needs to come down but I don’t want to pay $2,000 to get it done. It wouldn’t fall on anything so this could save me a bunch of money

Edit: I knew I’d get slammed for this comment and the replies are cracking me up . I am definitely a cheap arse.

Yes, we’re all hoping we can lose power for days and flooding and storm surge so that your water oak will come down for your cheap arse.

The 06z Euro experimental model has this right on top of the latest GFS run. Still running it through the Yucatán channel.

I hope you lose power for a month and your generator is broken
That'll cost you more than 2k

Not worth worrying about before this crosses the Yucatan.

If it won’t fall on anything why don’t you just cut it down? Get it started then get TF out the way.

Yeah, most of the northern gulf coast paths seem to be a strong to very strong storm.
