Use FlightAware to track your planes and airport status. Should give you an idea of any trouble ahead. Not sure if you feel comfortable sharing your flight plans but I can pull the tail numbers for you.

Well welcome! I'm in Highland Park if you're gonna be around that area.

Thanks. My last leg will be United 570 from Houston to New Orleans.

I just passed through mid city. Had a few tankers refilling gas stations.

Gas is pretty readily available right now. If you need some, I'd go get it now before the rest of BR wakes up and sits in line for an hour.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but it's already showing as cancelled.
UA 570
EDIT: Major apologies, Saturday is operating as scheduled, Sunday/Monday are cancelled.

Almost time for the hardcore weather heads to wake up for the 04:00 update.

ON IT! Thanks. Baton Rouge Airport showing rental car availability too! This could be better.

EURO comes in at Morgan City then produces 100-110mph gusts in Baton Rouge at 7:00 Monday. It’s very very ugly.

Also, edited my post above, Saturday to MSY is still operating. The Sunday/Monday is cancelled. Apologies, I got dates mixed up.

Damn. LSU will be closed all week. Looks like my wife’s decision to go get my daughter today was a good one.

Sorry for what is probably a dumb question…but is it conceivable that the storm surge from the gulf can make it as far inland as Houma?

I get off at 4:30am Monday morning 36 miles north of BR. It should be making the turn to the north east putting me on the west side. Hopefully I can make it home to get the family taken care of.

If the EURO verifies this would statistically be the worst hurricane to have ever hit Baton Rouge. It’ll be winds that we haven’t seen here from a hurricane before. Imagine Betsy but 10-20mph worse. That’s not hyperbole, either. The amount of damage to both trees and structures would be shocking to most.

I’m not an expert so I have no idea. I’ll say that I saw a post either here or on stormcast earlier saying something about all of Houma being under 3’ of water. I am pretty sure the surge could make it to Houma via bayous and streams, though, so that’s bot an inconceivable idea to me. Hell, the surge is going to technically impact Ascension by causing the Amite to back up and flood so Houma could probably definitely be impacted.
Amateur status confirmed — “probably definitely”
