Im saying the sort of things that would track it to Louisiana also bring it through very warm water and light shear.
So if it gets to Louisiana, its very likely to at least be a 3.

How about not hit any of Louisiana. You would think we hit our quota for awhile last hurricane season. Pretty much everyone took their licks from something last year. If Laura didn't impact you another one sure did.

HWRF worth looking at. It doesnt organize as fast, gets farther south, clips the Yucatan and doesnt start ramping up until its Houston approach.
The early game matters a lot.

FWIW, I saw scenes in the Laura aftermath the looked like war zones. Our company provided its own generator to our first motel because the power infrastructure was wiped out. Red lights around town that worked were only because they had a generator sitting next to the road. We were authorized to be out after curfew, and it was a ghost town when the sun went down. Areas that were still out of power were downright scary after dark.
We went in the day after and had a hard time to leave b/c of how scary it got. It came on REAL quick, too.

The more of the Yucatán it traverses, the more mountains it will encounter.

This
Next 48 hours when it decides where the center is gonna form will be the deciding factor.
After that models will agree quick and probably be locked into a 50-100 mile stretch

I can handle a CAT2. I won’t even leave. But these models showing cat 3 or 4. I just can’t.
Yeah I'll sit in the garage drinking beer again for a cat2. Higher end 3 to a 4... that's pushing it

There are no mountains on the Yucatán peninsula. There aren’t even any hills. It is flat as a pancake.
