Living inland, a good bit inland, generally I've noticed is that they tend to maintain a storm's strength too far inland.
Hopefully, this one too, will rapidly lose intensity once it reaches land, sparing the inland folks.

I booked rooms on Wednesday that can be cancelled up until Sunday. I don’t know why more people don’t just do this.

You want to be without power for 5 days or more in August with 3 kids under the age of 10?

You’re a much braver man than me

Unless you want to be stuck with no electricity and kids for a week or more

This is my current dilemma as well. I hate leaving my home but I’ll be got damned if I have to stay here with no electricity with kids.

Yes. Get a hotel room in shreveport or somewhere. Anyone with young kids needs to get the hell out.

When I was in your shoes about 8yrs back, we had a newborn and left for a storm similar to this. It wasn’t a strong storm nor did it do much damage, but being without power for a few days and losing all of the milk prompted mrs. penguin to make us leave.

I’m staying in Metairie too but my kids are older. I generally plan to leave after if power is out. Just assume/hope we can do so.

I don’t like waking up to a map showing we are getting 11 inches of rain. That’s a lot of rain.

I'm in Lafayette. I have a place to evacuate. Just hate leaving. Seems like I just replaced my roof and siding from Delta.

I’m thinking west of New Iberia would make it safe for Thib. Not sure I see that happening as of now.

I think this is what I'm going to do. Then maybe only have to deal with no power for a day or two then go to hotel. If it's not so bad then we just cancel.

.

Get out of dodge. HWRF looks to have moved east and GFS west. Seems they are all converging on Morgan City.

You’re probably looking at strong TS conditions on the high end right now. Rainfall is the biggest threat, by far, and power outages are probably going to happen for you.
