So quick question. Has the Clp5 model ever been right? It takes Ida to the Florida. Thanks

It's considered the benchmark, of sorts, for computer models.
It's basically climatology based only. In other words, what have storms in this area at this time of the year typically done. It's like the almanac for storms.
If a computer model can't do better than that, it is worthless.

I was joking, but I actually think that answer might help some people who didn't know.

Just saw the storm surge map on the prior page. That’s not as bad as I thought it would be.

For Duke and any other experts still posting:
NOAA satellite's upper water vapor loop shows a feature just N. of Puerto Rico that looks to be the size of a small hurricane spinning counterclockwise but almost completely free of clouds except on the outer bands.
What is this and could it affect Ida?
Asking for a friend...

I’m just worried about my new deer blind I put up last weekend in Woodville. It’s so damn big it’s gonna get blown over.

What we need is Nash Roberts, anybody got a medium around? He was a hooded baby and always could just feel the damn storm and where it would go. Always more accurate than any computer model. (And don’t give me any of that Bob Breck bullshite. )
