A new roof is gonna have the same result against a Cat 4 as an old roof

Unless they went with a metal roof. Riding thru BSL after their Cat 3 hurricane last year, basically all metal roofs were fine.

Not to mention the tornadoes in Dallas probably gonna affect you more often than hurricanes in Houston

Been here since 2004 and haven’t been hit by a tornado yet
I do have a very comfy shelter closet we spend a few minutes in for about 10 days a year.

I’m playing in sectionals in Houston this weekend. Heading that way tomorrow to compete Friday - Sunday. This thing looking like it will stay well east of Houston if it forms? Prefer not to get caught up in flooding or evacuee traffic.

standing seem metal roofs will be more than fine

shingle roofs will mainly be fine since they are new, even in a cat4 or 5.

At least I’ll have an Invest to talk about for my tropical discussion tomorrow. Working on my PowerPoint now.

not really. showing ignorance there.
My roof was replaced two weeks before Laura hit (‘19 hail storm). Only damage was from the trees that landed on it.

I will always be prepared. Always got water and the other essentials. But I don’t panic until I see what’s really going on… there are people who wait till the last minute and then get into panic mode and are left with nothing….

Yea well that's a silver lining. Laura took out most of the trees.

Tell that to my neighborhood. The section 5-7 years older had every roof missing substantial amount of shingles. My road 2-3 year old homes for the most part had bits and pieces missing.

Don't explicity interpret the wind speeds for that graphic. It was a Cat 3 on that run.
