The trend is overrated.

I said a few weeks ago that I'm riding with the GFS this season. It has been fairly consistent over the past several runs. I don't see much reason to abandon it now.

That said, I haven't paid as much attention as I'd like.

So it seems that there is still some uncertainty with the strength

Most people in this thread are saying the track isn't going to move too much

Heard someone say it's still disorganized and speeding up, one other said the weakest projection is still a Cat 3, another said something about rocket fuel

IDFK

What REALLY bothers me is how much rain NOLA has already gotten this summer... I know we are on a river bed and the ground is already saturated but it just stormed this morning for an hour or two and it is soaked outside still, wakes in the road in the garden district still.

A huge rain event would be disastrous

I think at this point, areas from Biloxi to Lafayette should be preparing and if you’re a gambler then vary your prep in relation the the mean which I have pegged at grand isle.

I feel fairly certain that I will be impacted in slidell

This thing going to keep pushing E or what?

If the High Pressure over the SE stays put then the answer is no. However if it breaks down sooner than anticipated it’s possible it goes to LA/MS state line. Small chance but not likely

Weather channel just said that it appears to be moving a bit more west than they thought at 5pm

Not reading too much into it

They are doing so because many buildings are down still and th temporary ones need to be readied for the storm. Without the kids there.

A hard driving rain for 2 hours will flood NOLA, but your point is well taken.

This will knock the power out, the pumps stop and the city fills up.

And if there are levee failures, it's a major disaster.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

Can you explain the dropsonde?

I know the lines on the right hand side correspond to wind direction and intensity, but what other info do you get from this?

I don’t need insight dude. My kid attends one of them. There will be no buildings being readied. It’s a knee jerk reaction due to PTSD as mentioned
