This is the shitty catch-22 of forecasting the weather. Err on the side of caution and people remember things being overblown and disregard future warnings. Underestimate an event and the survivors will want your head on a stake.
If you think that's bad you should try forecasting earthquakes and volcano eruptions.

frick the jorts.
It's good you still have that mindset. Get out before it's too late. One day, you're going to wake up just like any other day. You'll head into the kitchen to get some breakfast and enjoy a nice breakfast with the family. After breakfast, you're going to go over your day in your mind as you shower and shave. It's all going to look like it'll be perfect. Then, you'll go to your closet to grab a pair of jeans to get dressed and you'll find jorts instead. You'll have no recollection of the horrible cutting, but nonetheless, it will have happened. It is at that moment that the horrible truth will hit you like Ike Turner: the condition is progressive, there is no cure, and it's too late for you.
Save yourself while you can.

When Yellowstone blows it won't matter if they forecast it.

Not exactly what you were asking, but per Wikipedia:
Which is a drop, not intended, in the bucket compared to the money that is probably saved by improving the forecast.
quote:
A driftsonde is a high altitude, durableweather balloon holding a transmitter and a bank (35 in the first models) of miniature dropsonde capsules. These water-bottle-sized transmitters have enough power to send information to the balloon during their parachute-controlled fall. The balloon carries a transmitter powerful enough to relay readings to a satellite. The single-use sensor packages cost US$300 to $400 each.[1]
After being introduced in April 2007, around a thousand a year are expected to be used to track winds in hurricane breeding grounds off of West Africa, which are outside the operating areas of Hurricane Hunter planes.[1]

Newest NWS advisory. It seems that there isn't as much agreement among the models and Matthew's loop as there was earlier on. From my uneducated view, it looks like there's just as much chance it won't loop as there is that it will loop.
Max wind radius is only 20 nautical miles at the moment.

Look two posts above yours for the latest and most accurate forecast model.
Edit. I was referring to the top image, before the edit.

It's not looking good for the home team.
Prepare for a direct hit.
How long are you staying in Jax?

New 5 day forecast has it hitting Cape Canaveral and walking up the coast. It looks like Gainesville is right on the edge of the cone.
Nevermind- see above...

Yeah I've actually looked it up a few weeks ago and came across the same information. I don't mean to intend it is a waste of money by any means, but dropping $300 modules out of a plane 5 minutes after takeoff still cracks me up.

Gainesville is well within the cone. The game will have to be moved. It's the prudent decision to make.

Yeah, the info I pasted wasn't anything too hard to find.
But I figured I would go ahead and post it anyway.
