The Bahamas might weaken it a bit.

Just out of curiosity why would they play at the dome instead of Sanford? Avoid rain?
No source, no link, this is strictly a guess. Two reasons:
1. Unless a deal is worked out to play next year's game in Columbia, USCe probably wouldn't want two games in Athens in a row.
2. I would guess a storm this size would bring pretty shitty weather to Athens, although nowhere near the level that it would be in South Carolina.

Just like it has flooded for hundreds of years the area around the fort is Fricked. The inlet floods very easily. It has been very fortunate for over 40 years now

Maybe a little but nothing significant. There is plenty of water there to keep feeding it, and the Bahamas are completely flat so there's nothing to really slow it down

Lol golden beach just south of Hollywood cracks me up pay $10m+ for an oceanfront home with the small caveat that when that hurricane finally hits your arse is going to get reamed a tad

Thankfully wealthy people aren't stupid and take out insurance policies

Yep, but after it passes Cuba hopefully we can start having a more clear idea where it's going to hit the US
Exactly. It just jogged west a little more as well.

It's starting to look more and more like it'll make landfall in Florida. We should have a pretty good idea where though once it clears Cuba. My Cuba geography is shaky, is there anything in it's path that could push it back east at all?

4.5' high tide around 1pm on friday for the east coast of FL. Right when the storm would be hitting. More bad news.

Cuba has mountainous terrain to the west of the eye, which is why I believe no one thought the eye would come so far in land, if it moves further west over Cuba, Matthew could potentially be destroyed.
Also I wouldn't be surprised to see this thing move into the GOM

Traffic is gridlocked in Charleston all the way to Columbia. Nikki is reversing all lanes of I26 tomorrow at 3.
We are going to need ALL hotel rooms possible in Cola and the surrounding areas for evacuees. No way our game happens. And I can only imagine the giant clusterfrick Malfunction Junction is gonna be with the influx of traffic into Cola. It is a nightmare even on normal days.
The evac routes here are already backing up. Stores running low on supplies, etc. The possible destruction this is gonna cause just makes me sick to my stomach. A lot of ppl still have not completely recovered from last year's floods. Damn..what'll next yr bring? The long overdue earthquake in Charleston? At this rate nothing would surprise me.
ETA: ppl asking about us moving the game to the dome..Georgia Southern is already playing there Saturday.

Is this a fast moving hurricane or one that will just slowly move up the coast?

The schools being closed in Columbia should help a little with traffic. Hopefully Malfunction Junction in Cola isn't too terrible. I figured a majority of the evacuees would be off the road by the time they reach it...I hope.

Once it hits Florida it's supposed to speed up a little, crazy thing is many of the models have it looping around back to Florida instead of riding up the east coast
