Everyone in here living on the east side decide to head inland?

Could this thing really get to a cat 5 hit Florida east side. Then loop around and frick up one of the other gulf states.

Who knows about the Category 5 status before landfall, but the models suggesting the loop are suggesting it will be nothing more than a broad low pressure system by the time it is done.

I don't remember what roadGator said but most seem to have made a move.

130+ MPH winds areas along the coast

This is what could be unprecedented with Matthew. The official NWS local forecasts are showing 100+ sustained with gusts over 140 in some areas all the way from Vero Beach to St. Augustine. Even though the wind field is not large, the effects could end up being similar to a 300 mile wide storm coming straight in from the east.

What an arse.

I just drove from Daytona to Tallahassee. Before I left, many people seemed to be taking this storm far too casually. The local Publix was completely stocked with water and batteries. One thing that scares me is that Daytona (Holly Hill especially) has a lot of poor people who probably have few options to evacuate. I pray the flooding and wind doesn't get too bad, or else we could have a major tragedy in the works.

The strengthening is obvious from the recon data, but the storm appears to be growing its wind field as well. This is about as put together as it has ever been in its life cycle.

Is the wind field the black area around the eye? And the colorful parts are rain?

Looks like continuous recon from now on. Another plane has just departed Keesler.

For the hurricane intelligencia here, is it insane for Florida University officials even thinking they can pull off a game there on Satuday.
The SC gov just told all universities in her state they would not be providing any assistance whatsoever for football games. The universities are on there own.....
Really enjoy reading you guys. Thanks.

Yeah I think UF is crazy for having any ambition about playing Saturday, but we'll save that for another day.

I see

Alright I'm hitting the sack. Gotta make breakfast for the evacuees in the morning. Reauxl's bed and breakfast is locked and loaded. I'll check back in when I wake up.

Later y'all
