You said it’s common for businesses in small towns to close Thursday at lunch through the weekend. That’s bullshite. Don’t crawfish now.
See, you're so caught up in trying to be right that your reading comprehension drops to Louisiana levels.Try to read to understand instead of reading to reply before I punt your midget arse clean across the autistic spectrum of which you reside:
quote:

I don't know about 9-4, but in small towns across the south it's not at all uncommon for mom and pop establishments to be off on Mondays, close at lunch on Thursday, and closed on weekends, or some schedule similar to that.
Nowhere has anyone said businesses close from Thursday through the weekend. Are you retarded? Who'd claim such a thing? Again: read to comprehend, son.

Sometimes it's Wednesdays, sometimes it's Thursdays, regardless, it is a very common cultural practice across the south for small businesses to be closed on one of those days at lunch, and not at all uncommon for them to be closed all weekend or at lunch on Saturdays or be off on Mondays —

or some schedule similar to that.

Your hubris that you use for a coping mechanism for your autism and miniscule stature means I've to take time out of my day to explain things further for you. Do better. Get help. Take some classes, do something.

I am half owner for a retail store front. For my employees I tell customers that we are closing in fifteen minutes at 845. At 905 I shut down the POS SYSTEM. If you were not in line you don't get rung out after that I don't care if it is only one thing your buying. My employees are the best paid in town and I will back them up over any Karen that works in. I will not have them going home any later then the need to.

I get it. It's always surprising the amount of people that will ignore every subtle hint --along with the three "Hours 1-8 pm" signs -- that the shop is closing and just keep shopping until someone has to tell them.

I have a record shop and think it in the shop's benefit to be flexible when shoppers are late so I just pay overtime if someone needs to stay later but I totally get doing it the other way.

Employees don't even need a union, they just do what they want. I'll get to work when I get to work. The pendulum has swung to employee for a while. It'll swing back the other way one day. Right now, they're in control.

This includes several boutiques, most of the hair salons and doctors offices, veterinarians, etc in my town. I could see why they had those hours when it was a mostly retirement town but now the same businesses and service providers that won't be open past 4pm or weekends also prefer to be paid by venmo and zelle.

Also when I managed a store that opened at 10am and sold items that were not cash and carry I did not care if you had to wait 2 minutes if I was running late. And since most employers have a hard time getting people to even show up sober don't look for it to change anytime soon.

I once worked in a restaurant that opened at 11a, and people would frequently let themselves in as early as 10.30a and just sit without service for thirty minutes. A coworker got sick of these old grumps so she started blaring rap music and suddenly no one came in before 11a.

The USPS post office will close whenever the clerk feels like it. 2-3 hour "lunch breaks" at the one near me are not uncommon.

What about those that shut down 10-15 minutes before posted hours? Happens mostly with restaurants. They want to start cleaning, so they lock the doors, and stop answering the the drive-thru box

Its like they have been told the 11pm posted closing time is when they can get in their cars to go home

As a younger man I can’t ever recall this happening, now it seems commonplace. Even the Walmart gas station cant open on time.

we had to save all the fats and boomers from dying of covid so now not even walmart or CVS is open 24/7

Worked at a video store during college. Couldn't stand the people who wouldn't leave after 10 pm closing time or banging on the door 10 minutes after 10 pm.

I had to open a few times. I understand some people get their early but we had to make sure the store was ready for customers.

The early birds that really creeped me out were the pervs who knew when the newest porn videos would be released and were at the store first thing waiting to be the first to rent them. FedEx or UPS truck would deliver about 30 minutes after opening then we had to get them into the system before they could be rented. They would just hang out in the store for about 45 minutes until they could rent them.

I've always thought it's pretty rude to a go to a sit down restaurant 15 minutes before the posted closing time. That's just demanding they stay at least 30 minutes later for you since common sense dictates you're not going to be done in 15 minutes.

The annoying restaurant behavior are those that start vacuuming and spraying bleach while you're eating a full hour before they close.

If you have ever been to Europe you will know that nothing is ever on time except maybe the rail system.

I will not set that . If one employee stays late they all have to stay.we all leave at the same time the culture at my store every one is paid the same after your first 6 months. Every employee works the same amount of hour(excluding vacation, sick, emergency stuff like that)when you come to work you get carts from the lot all the way up to custom resolutions. Excluding ordering thing, deli or meats for obvious reasons.

I'm a lot more annoyed by those who block two sets of pumps so they don't have to walk twenty more feet to go buy a pack of smokes. Because that shite happens any time of the day.

This. But every pump is occupied and there’s plenty of parkin

With 1 minute until store hours I saw the dude walking up from the back of the store so I hop out my truck thinking he was coming to the door. fricker went stand behind the counter texting on his phone for another 2 minutes. He saw me standing there.

As a Gen Xer who worked retail as a teenager, we always hated when customers did this. He was probably fricking with you.
