Drove up north to Port Clinton, Ohio. The cleanliness of every gas station and restaurant we briefly visited in Ohio was amazing. There is pride being exhibited there and I like it!

I just spent 2 months in Wisconsin and Minnesota and I was impressed with the cleanliness of the states and the nice and respectful people I came across. Don't know if their government is as corrupt as ours but I am sure they can't be any worse.

My daughter went to school at W&L and I went to that Wal Mart every time I was in Lexington. That was the first thing I noticed too. And, all the cashiers were very expedient at their jobs.

Louisiana is a shite hole. I was born and raised in Louisiana. As soon as I can I will leave this state. It has some unique qualities but the bad outweighs the good by a large majority. Trashy people, first in everything bad and last in everything good.

Honestly it's probably your attitude more than anything.

Well I would say living here for 56 years is my problem. That is what I have witnessed in my life. I haven't always thought this way. You live here long enough and get back to me.

The Food Lion in Lexington is kind of gross, though.

Rural Virginia is a fricked up place, it reminded me of Chalmette, lots of people missing legs, eyes, arms.

Yep, ours closed two years ago. People here hate Walmart.

It was always clean and non crowded though.

It has nothing to do with location and has more to do with the racial make up of the customers and employees of that store.

Yea, I witnessed very very little culcha while there. Demographics play a large part in what’s wrong with Louisiana.

Walmart early in the am is actually a pleasant experience.

Got the get there before all poors, degenerates and thugs wake up.

I grew up for 18 years in Arlington, Virginia. I've traveled most everywhere in the US that there is to see save for the west coast. Louisiana has a lot more in it (driven mostly by the amazing people I've met here) than people realize. Yes there are severe political issues but somehow people are still able to make good lives here. I've certainly enjoyed my time here and found it to be completely unlike anywhere else (in a good way) in this country. I also like that it has been able to keep its uniqueness.

You're right. The people in Louisiana are great. Absolutely the most kindhearted, strong willed, salt of the earth type of people you can find anywhere. It's truly inspiring. The state itself however is objectively a steaming, unmitigated shithole. This isn't even arguable.

I tell people this all the time, but no one believes it. When people think Virginia, they think Tysons Corner, not knowing a lot of it outside of the suburban areas might as well be the Mississippi Delta.

It’s not arguable at all. Some of the people are great but the state is a shite show. Our economy is one-dimensional, which is currently down and the state is struggling as a result.

Education system is terrible. Culcha, crime, and corruption only perpetuate the issues in the state. Whenever we travel up north, almost everyone is at least reasonably educated, dead animals don’t litter the sides of the roads, and littering is almost nonexistent.

The facts are just there for Louisiana

At the top of the list in obesity, poverty, and crime

At the bottom of the list for education, literacy, and functional government
