NEW ORLEANS — Actress and comedienne Jennifer Coolidge, a part-time resident of New Orleans best known for her roles in the "American Pie" and "Legally Blonde" comedies, will serve as the Honorary Muse of this year's Krewe of Muses parade.
When the parade rolls Feb. 20, Coolidge will ride in the parade's iconic shoe float, a 17-foot tall fiber optic encrusted red pump.
"From the first time I saw the Muses parade, I was wowed by its creativity and uniqueness. I'm so flattered to be chosen to lead this extraordinary parade powered by women," Coolidge said in a statement.
Coolidge joins past Honorary Muses Patricia Clarkson, Tamron Hall, Solange Knowles, Julia Reed, Mary Matalin, Ruby Bridges, Charmaine Neville, Becky Allen and Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
This year, Muses, which was founded in 2000 and first rolled in 2001, marks its 20th anniversary. The all-female parade, known for its signature decorated shoes, satirical theme and innovative throws, rolls on the Uptown parade route.
Coolidge can currently be seen in Like a Boss co-starring Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, and Salma Hayek, and the upcoming Promising Young Women starring Carey Mulligan.
She is best known for her work in comedy, including as "Stifler's mom" in the American Pie trilogy, "Fiona" in A Cinderella Story, and "Paulette" opposite Reese Witherspoon in the Legally Blonde franchise, a role she recently reprise for Ariana Grande's hit "Thank U, Next" music video.
Other film credits include A Night at the Roxbury, Zoolander, Port of Call: New Orleans, Austenland, Lemony Snicket, Pootie Tang, and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. She also collaborated with Christopher Guest and his acting ensemble in the comedies Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and For your Consideration.
Her television credits include Sex and the City, Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier, Nip/Tuck, Party Down, Glee, Inside Amy Schumer, and 2 Broke Girls. Coolidge has also lent her voice to several animated films and appeared on Broadway.
Originally from Boston, Coolidge studied theater at Emerson College and was a nine-year veteran of The Groundlings comedy troupe in Los Angeles.
She splits her time between Los Angeles and New Orleans, a city she says she has adored ever since visiting her sister Susannah while she was a student at Tulane University.

She lives next to a family friend. She’s not here very often.

She is funny as all get out in Best In Show. She should be remembered for that well before her tiny arse role in the American Pie movies.

She's pretty cool. I ran into her at Mariza one night in the Bywater a while back and bought her a drink and chatted while our group waited for a table. She ended up eating and leaving. After she left the waiter brought us a bottle of wine that she sent to the table. I think she lives in the area.

She had a small part in Click that was good. I’ve always liked her characters.

Secret Time: Although she started the MILF genre, I've never thought of her as a MILF.

"We have so much in common, we both love soup and snow peas, we love the outdoors, and talking... and not talking. We could not talk or talk forever, and still find things to not talk about."

She was so messed up last time I went to Gabrielle she couldn't keep her head off the table.

My sister is neighbors with her. Sister said she talked with her a few times and is really cool.

I hung out with her one time at a house not far from where she lives. Previously there were three of us in the kitchen hanging out... Me and my girlfriend, and one of her friends who worked in the movie industry as some low-level gig... He said to us that he was about to go get Jen and left... I had no idea who he meant...So 10 minutes later they walked back in and it's Stifler's mom. I was a little awestruck because that movie came out my senior year of high school and I whacked it a bunch of times to her, but I did not let her know that.
She was very chill and very down to earth. We chatted about NOLA and why it interested her. I think I was 26 or so at the time, so a little over 10 years ago this took place.
