She said she'd rather pay the extra $40 to keep me from dealing with it in the driveway having to jack up her car and put it on jack stands just to crawl under it to loosen the filter and nut on the oil pan.
You mean she’d rather pay the extra 40 so she can see Jody that works at the oil change place

Just buy generic brand oil and a WIX filter
It really doesn’t make a difference as long as it’s the right oil

It literally takes me 5, maybe 10 minutes to change my own. Most of that waiting on it to drain.
Plug out, swap filter, plug in, pour 6 qts in w funnel.
In the real world, it takes just under 45 minutes while stopping to drink beer.

Buy it online for pickup at Autozone. They have deals online only. 5 quarts of full synthetic mobil one and a free oil filter and a quart to make six including tax is $65

I go to All Star Toyota for oil changes. Their website usually has a coupon for $79 oil changes. Most dealerships run these specials, check their websites. My daughter’s Honda gets a $45 oil change at Team Honda.

Sm’s Club oil and a filter at Walmart and I’m at about $50. I actually enjoy changing oil and filters on my cars. I’m retired and I look for things to do.

putting shitty oil in.
I’m not saying it happens a lot, but it does happen. I pumped oil for a year with a small, regional distributor. Let’s just say, if we were out of one manufacturer or weight, we would make a “substitution”. It was a shady company that delivered to oil changers and even dealerships.

Just my oil is $70 by itself.
2.5 gallons of 15w40 synthetic.
Wifes Yukon uses 0w40 Corvette oil, it's 13 bucks a quart.
