Yup. It's just unfortunate that court is time consuming and costly and offers no guarantee that your individual rights will actually be protected. Some may say the above could be taken advantage of by those in the know.

Do what the cop says at the time. If you think you have a legal case against his/her actions, address it with legal counsel after the fact. When a department gets sued once a week, they'll adapt their practices to the correct application of the law.

But to paint cops all as poorly educated idiots running around pointing guns at everyone they encounter weakens your argument and makes you look bad.

I agree. But outside of normal traffic stuff, most uniforms are in over their heads in BR from my experiences

You're an idiot if you don't comply with a cop. That doesn't mean what he is making you do is right, much less legal.

Some folks on here are missing the big picture.

I figured... and Jones still is a white sunglasses wearing douche

Guys, think a little deeper. I don't even think THESE cops did anything wrong. But to think there aren't any dirty cops is ignorant

What have your experiences been to lead you to believe that a majority of BR cops don't have a grasp of the law they enforce?

I've had numerous encounters with officers who, in my opinion, think they're above the law. Legit apology for sounding brash. I still believe they need more training in the legal aspect of the job

I'll say it again. This guy gets it. Hopefully the rest of you will now that he spoonfed it to you.

Oh ok. Didn't realize we were all supposed to be in deep thought here.

I don't think anyone believes there aren't dirty cops.

Are you just posting like a tard to keep the thread going?

Nobody thinks that there are no dirty cops. Who in this thread has said that there are no dirty cops?

What you (I think) Jones, and others aren't getting is the fact that I 100% disagree that you should just comply with an officer under any circumstances. Then just "take it up in a court of law". Do you guys understand that is NOT how the law works in this country? That isn't acceptable? I'm not talking about Sterling. Just in general.

Every time I mention the possibility of a cop (not the specific ones in the AS case) being dirty 3 or 4 people rush in to defend cops universally. I've been poking a prodding to get to this point. If we can admit that there are some dirty cops and that most of them should be more educated given their ability to ruin lives on a whim, then I'll stop
