I know. That's not what I'm reading now. But the last one isn't from Dreamcatcher. It's from what I'm reading now

King is and has been more than just a horror writer for decades. Some of his best works are his non-horror based books whether you call them sci-fi, fantasy, etc.

I always liked Pat Conroy's (RIP) books, but never liked how his characters talked.

Conroy is the man.

"Come and take your medicine"

Jack Torrance does seem to say it a lot. Never to the point of annoyance for me though.

these weird sayings are awful.

King has always been pretty clear he writes what interest him, if he includes it probably was important to him or made him laugh.

King writes such shite dialogue. Very distracting, I agree.

Tom Wolfe does a similar thing with awful catchphrases and silly sayings, particularly when writing ethnic characters, but he's great overall writing dialogue so it isn't as damning.

I know exactly what you mean. I could barely get through duma key because of the awkward dialouge between the main character and wireman.

All of wiremans cheesy arse catchphrases "hasta manana, muchacho!!! Sieze the day and let the day sieze you!!

Dont even get me started on the scene where they are both rolling in the sand laughing so hard they are crying, all over a not so funny joke.

With that said, I think he is a great writer, I have read almost all of his books, but I sympathize with you

Imagine why it never works in films. Great writer, read him in my teens, movies never translate.

because of king. Concepts are great, but adaptations are terrible. I believe King has it set up where he approves all screenplays.

Hes hit or miss, but when hes on, he's one of the best. Skeleton crew, needful things, It, Rita hayworth and the Shawshank redemption, the green mile, The shining, are all great.

He's no Ray Bradbury, but who is?
