Blanket and pillow and lay on the sofa in the living room. Watch tv all day. Have a frozen pizza cooked just in time to sit and watch the Price is Right. Cubs game on WGN in the afternoon if it was baseball season. The old man would usually stop and get me a Slurpee from the 7-Eleven on his way home from work.

Unrelated to your question, years ago my dad told me this: “no one ever tells you to take the day off.”

As someone who manages to accumulate a frick ton of pto at every job I’ve ever had, I started taking his advice. Might be once or twice a year I just take a day off. Schedule an errand first thing in the morning then frick off the rest of the day. Helps with burnout.

Also, I don’t have kids so there’s that.

WTF are you even talking about?!?!? My parents would drop me off at the curb in front of the school on a gurney with a I.V.s plugged into my arms. There WAS no staying home sick, even if you were.

3 hours of unsolved mysteries to start the day.
Whatever was in the fridge for lunch.
Second half of the day was super mario on the 64.

Good times

I don't think I had a sick day from 5th grade - 12th.
Before that, I'd stay with my grandmother and watch game shows.
