I'm using the broad, generic term to describe it. Not the USMC lingo, "cover".

I think it has to do with separating themselves from civilians and other police departments (sheriff and city deputies). It gives them a more "elite" look.

They should wear one of these little Southern Sheriff cowboy hats.



All LEO wish they were sheriffs. Can't blame them. Who wouldn't want their own fiefdom?
