State Sen. Troy Brown of Geismar punched a woman in her face Saturday night as the woman was waiting for an elevator to leave his room in a New Orleans hotel, city police said Monday.

Brown, 44, who grew up in Napoleonville, was arrested and booked early Sunday morning into Orleans Parish Prison with domestic abuse battery, according to a jail booking record.

Brown told WWL-TV through a statement Sunday that he had gotten into a fight with a couple of people during a Bayou Classic after-party at the Hyatt Regency hotel, according to a WWL-TV report.

Tyler Gamble, New Orleans Police Department spokesman, said Monday the woman who was hit told officers she and Brown began arguing inside Brown’s hotel room.

My favorite part

quote:

Brown, a Democrat representing parts of Assumption, Ascension, Iberville and St. James parishes, also said in the email to WWL-TV that he doesn’t recall all the details of what happened, citing his periodic bouts of short-term memory loss since suffering brain damage in a serious car accident in 1991.

If this is true, no person, man or woman, should be in a public office.

Searched, SIAP.

Typical. No one is responsible for their own actions. Everyone has an excuse.

BTW, odds this "serious accident" was some BS minor wreck from which he sued and made a ton of money?

Was it on the rant? You can't say anything about race on there or the MSB unless you want to get your post whacked and often you will also catch a ban. On the OT and Poli board it is ok as long as it isn't too bad. Different boards have different admins.

It probably wasn't on the O-T. They are pretty fair about it here. They just don't want that race stuff on the sports boards.

“Back in 1991 I suffered a life-threatening automobile accident which resulted in brain damage which caused some short term memory loss which I have always considered to be minor.

“However, as a result of this incident and other recent memory concerns I am consulting with a neurosurgeon to see if social alcohol consumption is now affecting my cognitive functions in ways it has not previously.

“I apologize to my family and my constituents, and I commit to getting the help I need to resolve the medical issues which I believe contributed to this incident.

Zero fricking accountability.

What's worse is he won't lose his seat for basically saying he has dementia.

I have severe brain damage and drink way too much which causes memory loss and makes me beat women. This does not affect my ability to be your elected representative though. Vote for Troy!

I'd like to see how he addressed this in his campaign. I'd be willing to bet he sees it as much more of a problem now.

I had "short-term memory loss" pretty often when I got shite-faced. I called them black-outs.

Probably a result of spraining my ankle that one time.
