The hospital or the nurses on the unit would be a good resource. It would probably be easier to work with an already established charity. Funeral homes would also know who already does such work.
I have worked with a bunch of women who get donated wedding dresses and make them into beautiful gown for the babies to be buried in. They are called Angel Gowns. It's a great way to use beautiful wedding dresses that would just be hanging in a closet forever otherwise.

non profit dooesn't mean you don't make money. you can have a salary while working for a non profit

As was posted earlier, you will need to fill out a 1023 to obtain tax exempt status through the irs. Personally, I think it would be best to start the process with the 1023 in hand. That way, you can draft your articles, bylaws, conflict of interest policy, etc exactly how the IRS wants.

I began work on this very type of non-profit a few years ago. It's called "Angels Away". It is a project that is still on my back burner and incomplete.

She's set up as an llc, not a 501 c 3
