No it’s really not? Not sure what you are talking about. It’s clear to me that you have no idea what low class is.

He's clueless. My kids went private k-8. Then at Mandeville High's orientation 3 yrs ago for my oldest(graduating from Dutchtown this May), I was floored by the diversity and inclusion of such a large public school. No student is looked down on, whether they're going to work at a oil change shop after graduation to pursue a mechanic certification or they're enrolling in Harvard.
Your kids will be exposed to extreme poverty and extreme indulgence as they will have classmates who only get fed at school and others who get BMW's for their 16th birthday.
But that is GREAT exposure and the school administrators handle educating the entire spectrum with sincere care and grace. I've been very impressed with both schools.

Wouldn't trade any private school education with Mandeville or Dutchtown High.

Lakeshore is a great school. We have been happy with the education and athletics there. I remember our area was pissed when the school board decided to break away from Fountainbleu school district , but it has been the best thing to happen to our area. Yeah, you have kids from Lacombe, but it hasn’t been an bad.

Sorry but we all know that isn’t true and you are only saying that because you got stuck with lakeshore. It pulls from lacombe and that will always weigh that school down. It is nowhere near as good of a school as Fontainebleau.

The school built on the other side because the rich people didn't want them going to school with their kids? Good advice.

OP I'd put my kids in Mandeville, Lakeshore, or Fountainbleau in that order. I'd be comfortable with any of those 3 just my opinion. Mandeville is the best one though, IMO.

Yup. Won't be a popular opinion here, I'm afraid.

I went to William Pitcher (basically Covington Jr. High) and then my parents made me go to St. Paul's. I would have been so much more prepared for life if I'd stayed in the public school system. Made some really bad choices as a young adult that kind of tie back to that change.

Damn that’s a pretty rare opinion due mostly to groupthink rather than reality. IOW I would agree but many wouldn’t due to groupthink.

So basically you are a frickup and your parents tried to salvage your dumb arse. You should reimburse them.

Isn’t St. Paul’s like a boarding school for the morons? At least it used to be in the 60’s because my uncle was sent there like a boarding school from Shreveport

They shut the boarding down in the early 2000s. By that point it was almost all foreign students.

Unfortunately, the Catholic Church while it teaches certain values, it does not practice what it teaches in real life.

Get the hell out of here. Fountableau is the Ehert of the north shore. Lakeshore is new, within 10’years and state of the art. My kid is at monteleone and has had not issues from the LaCombe kids which is relatively a small number in general. My wife and I were products of Catholic school and outside of religion, there isn’t much difference. In fact, there are more drugs at private schools than public... trust me.

Mandeville High or bust imo

I recently moved from Soult area to west approach to make sure my kids are in that school pipeline. I’m obviously biased as I went through the same pipeline... my kids are at Ponchartrain elementary currently, love it

No input on the schools, but I personally wouldn't live south of that intersection of 59 and 1088.

Also an interesting piece of advice. Not familiar with that particular part of Mandeville. Traffic bad in that spot? Why wouldnt you want to live there.
Thank you.

This thread is hilarious. All the “we’re full” posts from people who probably moved there in the last 10-15 years when Mandeville area exploded.

I haven’t lived there in over 20 years, but the public schools were always good and St. Paul’s was where the bad kids who got in trouble in public school and kids from Metairie whose parents thought public schools were sub-par went. Not sure what it’s like now though.
