I don't care if theres a trial... It would be the same grand jury that the current prosecutor would be addressing.

So you are saying that the current prosecutor is going to withhold information in order to try to get a no true bill?

I get what 808 is saying about how it is handled and how things may have gone the way they did in part due to that information flow.

However, the key thing is that argument simply proves the point that some make that the protesters are not out for 'justice', just their preconceived notion of it.

Put another way, the argument is that if these people (protesters and such) knew immediately all the facts, this past 10 days would have not happened. To make that argument, you must conclude that these protesters are either too bias, ignorant, hateful or whatever to be able to process information over a period of time.

If all information on Sunday would have quelled, but spreading that over a week causes havoc - the statement is more about the abilities of those causing havoc then the cops in every way.

agreed, but some don't like personal accountability

But perception is reality.

I heard this before and immediately thought that is is a really stupid statement. Perception is the reality of the uninformed would sound better to me.

No. Do you think a prosecutor can decide to present a case in such a way as to effect whether or not it goes to trial?

I'm just saying the City has more experience with these things and maybe Ferguson, next time, should take a page out of the City's book.

I completely agree although I get concerned that this fact is over played as an excuse for the massively disproportionate response over the past 10 days.

Think of what we are all sorta of saying here. If the cops had communicated and cleared the air day one, this would have been little or nothing. But because the information was not instantaneous, the city has burned for 10 days in complete disregard to what the facts of the case truly are or any penchant for justice. Think about what we are saying here.

We are concluding a segment of society went this far, not because of fact but because of perception determined in 24 hours with no acceptance of reality from that point forward. That is a pretty strong statement towards the community.

Yes and you are saying the same thing...

You just said if a special prosecutor comes in that its more likely to go to trial... So you believe that that prosecutor is going to do something different than the current one to get it to trial.

On a normal day, they wouldn't give the PC THAT quickly.

Maybe a little quicker because of Ferguson, but in the past it was not unusual that there would be a PC or a statement to media while still at the scene. So really, yes, that's how they do things. Maybe not 10 minutes like someone claimed, but certainly while still at the scene.

I'm not. Explain to me how I'm talking out of two sides of my mouth with respect to two different situations.

If there is no indictment there will be rioting.

If there is a trial and acquittal there will be rioting.

Only a conviction in a trial will be considered justice by the protesters in Mizzou and by a large portion of our population.

The special prosecutor may be predisposed to want to take it to trial whether it's appropriate or not. One would expect someone who would be considered for that job to be someone who would be so inclined. See: Zimmerman trial.
