Was he carrying a tazer??
They have tasers, pepper spray, etc. I don't know if it's policy for Ferguson police to carry them on their person, but I've defended guys who got aggressive with a cop while drunk/high. These were recorded on the dash cams, and I've never seen an officer even pull his firearm out to detain the suspect. They would just bust out a taser or spray and let it roll.
Lol. The ones that got sprayed would tell me they would rather be shot than be sprayed again.

Personally, I am wary of putting too much stock in this.
Agreed, if looking at it from the point of whether or not it was a good shooting or not. I'm just talking about using it to consider whether or not he was shot execution style surrendering vs. some type of physical confrontation with police.

LMAO Yes, we watched and didn't stop them but will hunt them down and secretly arrest them?
Secretly isn't a fair description of what I said. We'll never hear about it because media simply won't be there to cover it.

Exactly, while the Captain had people rubbing his head for good luck, talking a mere 2 hours before this about how his approach was superior and thus there would be no more of this. Gotcha.
So what do you think would have happened had the armored vehicles moved in with force to arrest those half dozen or dozen or however many looters?

And this sentence is the exact argument for much more aggressive control of the city by the police. the exact thing everyone railed against for the week.
We'll agree to disagree.

So KSDK the local NBC affiliate, showed the Cops house and where he lived.
Apparently didn't just show the house, but his address too.

If in fact the suspect was charging the cop he's not going to get in his car and pursue, he's going to protect himself. He is given the power by law to use deadly force. Thats just how it is.
Agree 100%. If the facts come out that he was in reality charging/running at the officer even after initial shots were fired, the cop certainly has the right to defend himself. Unfortunately, I don't think there is ever going to be a clear answer to what happened. That's unfortunate for all involved. If it was an unjustified shooting, it is unfortunate for the family because they'll never get justice and they're entitled to that if it was unjustified. If it was a justified shooting, it is unfortunate for Wilson because his name will never be completely cleared and he is entitled to that if it was justified.

@chriskingstl: Police command getting strategy together but 1 police official confirms to me 1st wave of looters was organized & not from protest group.
:rtoflmao: Does it matter? Does it really matter? they weren't 'protesting'. Not part of that group? Are there membership cards or something? Should the police act differently depending on whether the looters were members of a club or not? Cmon.
quote:
You appear to be under the belief that the looters have been welcomed with open arms and given the green light when it's much more complicated for both sides.
I am under the belief that riots and looting took place last night for hours. that is a fact. I am under the belief that nobody stopped it for hours. that is a fact. I am under the belief that several people lost their business and livelihood with the police watching. that is a fact. I am under the impression that the police allowed violence and mayhem to occur. that is a fact.
Never said open arms. Never said green light. I said it happened and it is pure anarchy. And if asking law enforcement to enforce the law is 'complicated' then we have a massive massive problem with the current structure and that is not a 'success' or 'good thing'. No American should have his property destroyed with cops watching. Period. End of story.
quote:
The peaceful protesters put there own lives at risk to protect someone else's property simply so people like you wouldn't group them in with the animals and savages and you still find reason to judge.
I am not grouping shite. It is the 'it was better that the police let it happen crowd' that is grouping people. I am saying stop the bad guys. Enforce the law. How the hell is that grouping non rioters and non looters with rioters and looters. You are the one trying to push the grouping and race thing here.
quote:
The police should have had a better plan from the beginning but due to their lack thereof the community stepped in to prevent the situation from getting worse.
Better plan? That infers there was a plan. Standing a watching is not a plan. And I agree their lack thereof was the problem. But you are the one posting about how it was good they did nothing! Make your mind up.

This means 3 stores were looted instead of several in addition to lives loss. It's called choosing your battles
It is called appeasing criminals and anarchy. You are arguing succumbing to blackmail and hostage, without even the remotest attempt to arrest is facking A.
Lets go to the Cigar store owner and explain to him the good news. Yes we know you got roughed up and stolen from, and of course that knowledge will incite people to destroy your store. But here is the good news... it will only be you and few and then they will walk away scott free. Thank you for being a proud American. That is what you guys are feebly trying to rationalize.

We have to remember why the police didn't do shite last night. They didn't want them around, they got replaced. YOU CAN'T PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT THE POLICE ENFORCE.
I support their decision not to do shite as a slap in the face to the powers that be that removed them.

Talk about fueling the flame. I haven't seen a need to know his name, address, or picture. But there are those that act like it is going to help something to know. I don't get it.
Have said from the get go, no need to release his name. Even if it was an unjustified shooting and even if the cop is charged and found guilty, releasing his name, especially at this point, puts innocent people unnecessarily at risk...namely his family.

The police officer's name? I would have released it.

And as soon as the Chief said the officer was beat up in the scuffle and had to go to the hospital, they were going to have to release the name. You don't get to pick and choose between "I'm going to let this information out" and "protecting the integrity of the investigation."

IMO, they should've data dumped the video, the robbery report, and the officer's name on Sunday.

Gotcha so it is pretty standard for cops to just videotape or hope someone else is videotaping crimes while they occur so they can chase them down months later? Riggghhhtttt.

You mean enforce the law?!?!? Now why would I want cops to do that? I prefer anarchy ofcourse. I am just wondering why we have police there to begin with. they can watch CNN at home with me. Their presence after all is the problem, right?

We'll agree to disagree
that we will. I just hope the next time I am a victim of a crime, the cops don't stop and confer as to whether it would be prudent to enforce the law or not.... call me old fashioned.

yep, it all should've been released the day after. I don't see how any of it would have compromised them getting witness statements.

At this point, what difference does it make?

Cops selectively enforce the law all the time.

Al Sharpton wouldn't have come to town. No Commies from Chicago would have shown up with Molotov cocktails. It would be a completely different landscape.
Eta: now the professional race baiters and instigators are pot committed. And that's a direct result of shoddy communication.
