Yea he is 100% wrong on that. I know mutiple alum on there.

He keeps saying I am wrong about the Facebook group, I'm just telling him what I see posted.

He is typical of that group, my way is the only way. Even if you agree with most of the points, it's not enough. He can frick off.

Is Barbe HS getting bad enough for people who live in SLC to not want to send their kids there?

it's not but they need a new HS

the problem is that the new HS would need to be in south south LC and that is a political grenade on both ends

I know this to be false. Several Alumni are on the council including priests.

you are confusing the advisory council with the task force

The school recently pulled the Advisory Council info from the website along with the Rebuild recommendation that had a $7 million "typo" in favor of
relocating to MF. I wonder why?

So 30mm to rebuild a school. If 5 of the 30mm is not damaged, SLCH will need 5+2.5=7.5mm. I wish them the best of luck.

Also I applaud Holy Cross rebuilding post Katrina but they built a school from 1050 kids and enrollment is 750-800. I enjoyed my time at catholic school but recognize it is an uphill battle to offer sports, STEM, and religion while keeping costs low. In 20 years slch has doubled its tuition. I hope SLCH can grow wherever it goes.

You mean this committee?

Or the Bishop’s council made up of the pastors of the diocese?

I’ve also heard about the typo but don’t know specific details about it. I have two kids enrolled at the school now so it’s highly unlikely I will be directly impacted for a generation. I’m sorry your property value is going to take a hit but it’s the hand they were dealt. The short fall in insurance coverage is the straw that broke the camel’s back. The diocese is looking for a way to come up with $60m. If there was one dollar more available for the move then they were going to take it in my opinion.

Thank god..those near the SLCH pay 114 mills vs barbe’s 81 mills. If this was about property values I would have left years ago.

no- that is the task force, not the advisory council. And that $7 million typo was in the document you just posted. It’s the reason so many people think Morganfield move will be less expensive. In reality it will cost a lot more to move to MorganField and it’s not even close.

I’m not worried about property values, I’m concerned about the financial health of St. Louis and the diocese. A move would be fiscally irresponsible.

So then the advisory council was made up of priests and at least two of them are alumni.

It seems like you are splitting hairs. At the end of the day, alumni and priests were involved in the decision. Why does it matter if they were in one group versus the other?

Rose St off of 12th st area is by far the worst part of Lake Charles. Crime there every day. Morganfield is far enough away from that and the old St Louis campus is actually closer than the new one will be

I don’t want to speak out of turn but it appears to me that you are misunderstanding something. The screenshot you’re referring to is the school advisory council that gives general opinions on school activities and academics and has nothing specific to do with the decision to move or not. The one I showed was specifically setup for that purpose and they made the recommendations to the Bishop’s council of Pastors.

It is a no brainer to move the school. Anyone wanting to keep it in its current location is not thinking logically.
